I find it quite disturbing, when you browse an entry to see possible edit information, such as the pictures of a day that were not inserted, or buttons to add stuff - such as the "add file for instance" which can be displayed before actual information, such as a location .
It would be much more readable I believe.

Not sure if I understand correctly. What you want is to a separate view mode (as previously suggested in the old feedback forums here) that hides the "add file" and other buttons?

timo Yes kind of. What I really would like in the end is to see what I added myself in my entry when I read it - and not what I can add. Especially for photos.
So yes a kind of view mode. (And that's why I was asking to be able to choose the flow entries enbedded).

By the way, I've been looking a lot for a journaling app, and it's by far the best I ve tested . Thanks a lot.

      Happy you like the app!
If you don't like the suggestions you can disable the Camera Roll integration in the app settings.
Maybe you can described in a more detailed way, how exactly you expect the app to behave. I still don't have clear picture of what you want to see and when and how

timo Ok, I'll try to make a couple of couple of screenshots, and tweak them to what I'd like.
(And thanks for the tip for photos, I missed the feature, sorry)

I've uploaded here what a view or browse mode should be (and what is currently).
I guess you could add an "edit" entry in the top right menu , that would lead to the edit mode, The edit mode could be the same as the current one, plus a "save" buton somewhere. Then of course you need to decide when to switch from edit to browse. To me, it should be as soon as you save or leave the edit window.

        Hope that's clear enough.

leolu i totally agree on that. Would be a great addition to the app!

+1 for separate view & edit mode

I'm also voting and would really love to have a dedicated view mode which is enabled by default (or at least have this as a user option in settings) when entering a previously made dairy entry from any of the overviews (timeline, calendar, search ...). My main issue often is when entering an entry, it seems to be in "view mode", but when touching the text to scroll down, the view turns into the edit mode when lifting the finger. This often happens for me on entries which I only want to read and contains text that seems to be exceeding the text area size - but doesn't.

My suggestion is to either have a pen at the top right to switch to edit mode (as already suggested) OR to enter edit mode when double tapping into the text (this is what I prefer). For me the view can stay the same as it is now - in both modes - without modifying the current view in opposite what leolu suggested.

Another vote for this feature. I like revisiting my previous entries, and am always afraid of making changes, as there is no confirmation window to save the changes.

Adding a read mode by default would prevent this issue. Thanks!

This also happens to me quite often. So, I agree with your opinion. One more vote for this function.

I have thought a simple solution on this matter. In app settings we have the option to enable the full view for entries in timeline, this is a nice choice for preview the timeline, but in the case when the texts entries is long then the timeline is cluttered and is very annoying to scroll up and down to find the exact diary entry. I suggest to the timeline view to add the option to expand the full view individual for each entry, maybe with a symbol + or something similar, and in this way we can preview and read without editing individual each entry, and when want to edit we simple tap to open the writing section as normal.

I don't want this. It would add extra buttons to click when I simply want to edit. I don't want to toggle and untoggle just to edit. There is also an Undo button in case you accidentally edit an entry.

grtrttutyu No it's not give extra button for edit because it will be on timeline preview entry as option. If you don't needed you can ignored from the app settings. The undo button of course is here but it is not convenient when just want to read or review the entry and mistakable tap the screen as usual happen to most users, you don't want to fight with keyboard and scroll in this scenario, it's just frustrating...

Aris Hi Aris, I was refering to the other suggestions above your post that involves toggling or clicking a button to switch from View to Edit mode. I'm good with your suggestion since it doesn't add more clicks.

grtrttutyu Thank you, yes that was the thought, this method is almost here in the app dna, it just need an enchasmed.

+1 for separate view mode... it would allow cleaner look when browsing... it would also be nice to view bigger photos attached to the entry in this view...

I second the toggle mode solution. I too am afraid to make unwanted changes without knowing it. This happens every now and then.
I would expect existing entries to open in view mode, with only formerly attached items (e.g. photo's) visible. And an option to toggle into edit mode.
New entries should (of course) open in edit mode.
In edit mode you would have all the available options like in the current version.
And an option to 'save' maybe.

I love this app btw. I use it for all kinds of stuff. Finding back things with the text search works like a charm.
I also love 'browsing the attachements' mode (photos). I find it a wonderfull way to walk back on Memory Lane.
