Could the images that run horizontal at the bottom be turned into a square or rectangle display. For example
You have a landscape and 2 portrait photos they would fit in a display with the landscape across the top and the two portraits fitting in underneath?

If you had 4 port it’s photos they would cluster together in a square shape.

A photo collage style under the entry?

I would like to have pictures generally embedded into the text instead of having them all in one line at the bottom of each entry. Ideally they should be adaptable in size.

if implemented, how would this option handle pictures in portrait mode vs landscape mode? say it is a picture of a person standing on the beach, will i see sky only, top of their head included or somewhere in the middle of their torso? or will the picture be displayed in entirety making you scroll way down to read/enter text? would there be one size for all pictures or would it change accordingly?
perhaps a choice (as in blog templates)? the current view as default and one that emphasizes pictures as suggested by op? just thinking outloud 🙂

hi, Could it display on a more squared format ? a 1:1 or 3:4 of the picture and when clicking on, showing the whole picture ?
And a setting to choose between : before/After text of the entrie maybe ?
Also would be awesome a setting to choose how to display in the timeline : between a gallery view (card view, simillar to the "attachement" but with an extract of the text, and a bigger one for entries without picutre) or list view (like it is at the moment). (maybe should I open a new ticket for this ?)

I like Diarium a lot, but the way it handles images makes me keep looking for an alternative. If I were on Mac, it would be Day One which gives images way more space and to me, it's very important. Here, the feature request is two years old, a promising implementation idea from you a year old. I know there are loads of feature requests and everybody thinks theirs is the most important, but I think this one really is on a different level. It's not just about a feature, but about the concept, the whole feel of the app, which to me is still lacking. With the text and just thumbnails for images it almost looks as if it was 20+ years old.

Spot on on the first statement, but not the latter. To me this feature request does not interest me at all, since I do not care about the "beauty" of the app. I am much more interested in the data side of things, since I just want to gather data about my life, mostly by using tags and trackers. That is why in my opinion the most important feature requests are everything that improves tags and trackers and searchability of the data.

I think it's a misunderstanding - it's not a matter of beauty. A lot of people, I'm sure I'm not the only one, can take more information from a visual than from a text. A diary entry is sometimes heavier on the text, at other times it's the picture that tells more and that ratio is of course variable. This app favours text, heavily. I regret it and don't understand it - more accessible images wouldn't diminish the experience or usability of people who prefer text and data.

I agree with you on this. But the point here is priority. As you pointed out a feature as simple as this has already been in queue for 2 years. I have also made some really simple requests which has been in queue for ages. The problem here is the fact that Timo is programming this app and couple other apps alone with no one to help. The fact is that if Timo takes the time to develop this feature, it takes the time away from other features which I think are more urgent. That is the only reason why I am "against" this feature.

I just started using the app today (switched from Day One because I was missing the cross-platform support on multiple devices and journal different types of contents daily).
It is fantastic and only misses one essential feature: inline photos 🙂

As some other users mentioned, for many people storytelling needs visuals and most of the time an entry has more than 1 photo, and the order of the photos is important.

I personally feel like my existing posts have lost about 50% of the data and logic due to the photos now being all bundled at the bottom.

I need to redo a lot of them (if possible), to grab the context and match the paragraphs with the photo.

It has not yet deterred me from using the app 🙂 But I feel like this feature is essential. So I hope it will be considered in the future!
