Good question, Timo.
For me personally, having non-timeline notes in Diarium is a desire for simplicity and convenience more than anything. I use Diarium every day, so it makes sense to access certain notes via Diarium than going into another app. Possibly with the new link to entry feature, you could add links in notes too.
I use a note app extensively (UpNote) to capture articles, measurements for DIY projects, recipes, quotes, ideas etc. I'm not looking for Diarium to replace this at all. It serves its purpose as my notes app - my information repository (or second brain) if you will.
But some notes are so intrinsically related to life (as Diarium is), I would love to be able to click into a tab in Diarium and access these notes (ideally via a folder tree)
Some non-timeline notes I would keep would be:
- Bucket lists (things to do, places to go, stuff to be)
- Yearly goals lists (things from the bucket list shortlisted for this year)
- Places visited lists (nice to keep a log of the places I've been)
- Notable dates list (an at-a-glance timeline)
I know a lot of people use journaling for mental health. A lot of books suggest doing various exercises in a journal. It makes sense to me that these sorts of writings go outside a timeline rather than being in amongst a life diary.
It would be useful for notes to be stamped with date created and date updated though, even though they could be arranged in a folder tree.
Hope that helps.
