For me personally, I don't strongly need a notes section. For sure, I have some ongoing "notes" in Diarium, too. As the order of entries is descending by date, my "workaround" is to set the date of the sticky entry/ies to the very last day of the current year. As long as the year goes on those entries will be always at the top. I can review and modify them all the time. If the year passes by I can split the entry - e.g. a bucket list like already mentioned by others - for things I've done throughout the year. I leave the undone things in the entry and again set the date to the very last day of the new year for the ongoing note(s). The "done" entry/ies will get in line with the older or new ones of my diary entries. These entries can also have an additional tag to find them easily afterwards. This style kind of replicates the front and back covers of a physical diary in my opinion.
This is my way of getting around the missing "sticky section for personal thoughts" in Diarium. There are a lot of specialized apps for all other things not tightly coupled to a personal diary...
