Hey all,
I'm an old fart trying not to lose any of the beautiful and challenging memories of my long productive life. I think it's just as important to journal the times I face plant in life as it is to remember the best days.
My life background started in Witchita, Kansas. My family moved to Chicago, Illinois, when I was 3 months old, so my childhood memories begin there. My father hails from New Philadelphia, Ohio, and my mother is from Birmingham, Alabama. They met in Miami Beach, where they were both attending what was known then as "Airline" school. My mother remained in Miami and worked for Pan American Airways. My father transferred to Witchita, Kansas, once he signed on with Continental Airlines. They were married in Witchita, where my sister and I were born.
Having the advantage of free air travel, my mother, my sister, and I spent all of our summer months in Birmingham, where my mother's extended family resided. That opportunity made it easy to become close to my cousins, aunts, and uncles. It also gave me a firm foothold in the southern culture of the United States. It made me both a Rebel and a Yankee.
I began my career with Delta Air Lines in 1976. I have been based in Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; Covington, Kentucky; and Atlanta, Georgia. I rose in my career to become a global training and development manager. It was then that I began using journaling as a professional tool. Still, having written poetry and short stories in my pastime and developing and writing training material, it seemed essential to give all of that some repository for personal growth and development.
I'm grateful to have this tool in my toolbox, and I look forward to using it in all my life experiences.
