New Diarium Users

Hi. Prospective nz user here. This year have made the effort and entered in my pint sized diary every day. Walk most days, click with phone. Keep photos on Laptop, folders for the five seasons, I guess the theme is “This is the day”, or, “The years cycle”.

I am looking for a way to link the photos together with a few words, as a journal. ( I don’t have MS Office. ) I feel every product page, I have to trawl between the lines to find out what is obvious to every one else. So, questions.

Essentials for me is to be able to save and read it offline, on a hard drive, and to be simple to string words and photos together if I chose Simple. So I want to confirm this??? Of course extras like x platform and multimedia are nice, and abilty to transfer eg whatsapp photos.
Have Windows 11 laptop, (and android phone)

Long time journal user. I found diarium for a similar reason as many others; seeking something a little more modern, easier to use in situations where you just want to save a quick note or idea for later. I'm interested in transitioning a lot of my journaling to a digital environment - but I'm concerned about the level of security the app has. I feel I'll be more honest in my writing if I don't have that nagging fear in the back of my mind about someone seeing it. Does anyone have any insight about this? Is it safe to use this cross platform? Thank you in advance.

ezra Welcome to Diarium! What are you concerned about in particular? When using the Cloud Sync, the data is synced to your personal Cloud Storage account. Neither me (the developer) nor other users have access to it. The data is just as protected as other data you would upload to your OneDrive or Google Drive.
To provide an additional layer of security, I am planning to implement an optional encryption of the Cloud Sync where you can specify your own password, you can read more about it here.

First question 😉 I have tried to read all the numeroous questions about paying for different platforms. That means I do not have to pay for iPhone, for iPad and for Mac as they are all OS/iOS, right? Or have I got it wrong?
I have bought the Pro version for my iPhone and my iPad goes on asking me to buy Pro version..?

Hi. I have bought Pro for my Laptop through Microsoft, fiddled with the settings, then closed it. Trying to open it now, but Adobe Acrobat won’t open it. What program should I use, or is the problem elsewhere?

Ok, I realised I couldn’t find the exe on my computer. Went back to MS, got an option to pin it to my task bar, so I have. Not sure why I can’t find it elsewhere.

Does the doc have to be saved on my User folder, where my pictures are, or can I put it on another disc. Still not sure how to access that, or it may become clear with time 🙂

In Diarium, there is a map option but I am unaware as to how to go ahead and lets say create an entry with a location tagged.

Please do guide me in this scenario and thanks a lot for being available to answer my query.

Simply create an entry and click the "Add location" button.

I am using this particular app for its cross connectivity and it is working great.

Also I know this is not the right place to request a feature but if it is possible, if you could allow entries to be automatically tagged with current location and give this option to users to toggle on or off, it would be the perfect app for journaling as unknowingly, they will be able to recollect their memories they created.

I exported the data from day one as a zipped json.

I found that not all the logs have the slash prefix before parentheses and hyphens , just the ones that I copied over into Day One in Markdown format. Day One does not show the Markdown but it causes the problem in Diarium. I detected this by the # prefix in the markdown header.

Love the app. over 8000 entries now and growing as i copy all my logs over from earlier apps starting in 1959.

I am from turkey. I discovered diarium not very long ago. from that point, I am using it frequently. it's a quick capture tool with high rate of response from the server so I really like the design.

other than that, diarium is always something special to me. It has everything I need.

from turkey, this year is as hard as recent years. Political monarchy is taking it's toll on us. Inflation rate is increasing and everyday is becoming harder to live.

as sad as it is, we are having a really difficult time as gen z in our country. not because of any rights or anything but the basic rights are exploited beyond belief.

rent is as high as our salary. We are probably never going to be able to support a family in our life-time. forget about buying a home or even a nice car.
it's hell here. we are trying our best to survive.

as someone who is working for hotel industry for around 2 years, my skills are much higher than my job.

as I am trying to learn new skills everyday to live up to compatition, life is slowly requiring us to get a second job.

I can't believe I am spending best years of my life working my ass off.

I have been making Journal entries digitally since 2009 and using the Journey app since 2011 after trying many different apps, Journey was the only one not bloated with features and had a pay one time tier, as over the years more and more have been going the subscription route and that's not for me. I was impressed how easy it was to import my entries into Diarium and it's so great to be able to test the pro feature for 6 days before I buy. So far I'm very impressed with the easiness of the app layout and the many useful features. For me personally I do prefer a connection to Apples shortcuts as I like to write several short entries during the day and combine them in the evening and make one entry, but I like Diarium so much that is not a deal breaker anymore. I already have a bit of a work around.

OldGuyDave Welcome Dave. Glad you're enjoying Diarium. I've been using Diarium nearly five years on a daily basis. The lack of feature-bloat is one of the things I really appreciate. I would rather have something fast and reliable, than open an app and wait ages for it to load before being able to write.

I too would like some sort of way of adding short entries throughout the day via a shortcut that combine into one single entry as I often need to capture the day's events, but don't have time to write about them fully. I currently have a template called 'Day Log' with a simple bullet list and start this in the morning, and add to that through the day, but it would be more slick to hit an icon on my phone, and simply type letting Diarium handle the rest.

I am a brand new user of this site. I am finding the support and instructions on how to use the site VERY difficult to use and unhelpful! Maybe there is a manual and I just haven't found it yet.
My current frustration is that when I am writing in the calendar page, sometime I have the use of the typing icon bar (I don't know what to call it) where the ability to use "bold, underline etc" is offered but most of the time it isn't there and I can't figure out how to make it appear.
I hate to give up on this site, but the process of trying to blindly learn how to use it is frustrating and not being able to easily find an answer is doubly frustrating.
I will give it a few more days of stumbling around trying to find things before I call it quits and try some other site.

I just bought this after the trial. I didn't purchase this app because it's perfect for me. To be honest it's maybe about 60-70% of what I need and there are a lot of needs I felt are lacking. I purchased this app solely because of this forum. There's clear transparency of what the developer is working on/plan to etc. It gives me hope that the developer listens to what the users want. They may not take up my feature request, but I just love the way they handle things here. Cheers.
