Multiple diaries?

I really want this to be a feature of Diarium. I just bought Diarium because of its nice cross-platform abilities. But additionally I would like to make diary notes when I am at work and keeping them strictly separate from my private notes. So please make multiple diaries a feature soon🙂

I too would like to see multiple diaries. I'm nervous to try but can I just go to settings and click on "Reset login credentials" then login with as different user (other email address) and go back and forth between the two?

Vintagehotdog Changing the sync account doesn't allow you to have multiple diaries, it would just merge the two

I'd like to use Diarium as a diary for our kids to be edited by my wife and me. At the same time it works so well that I'd also like to use it for my own notes and keeping track of things that don't necessarily need to clutter up the view on my wife's devices.

So having a way to separate diaries would be great. I'd be open to having a tag based approach or having different folders on my WebDAV. However, everything should be able to sync via WebDAV so I can access the same data on all my devices.

Could the tags be toggled on/off to show on the calendar/timeline? That way if you wanted to tag something personal you could toggle off to appear on timeline/calendar and that would prompt using the tags tab for “Personal”?

I am new to Diarium and I love it... I hope this feature (multiple diaries/private diaries) comes sooner than later.

Please make a way to have two journals!! I want one for work, I love being able to track my clients, sales, follow ups, and so much more and this diary is PERFECT for that BUT I also love using it for my personal diary. I'm about to delete all my personal things and just have it for work 🙁 That makes me SO sad!! Ill pay for another journal even, I bet a lot of us would!!

I would love a way to have multiple journals as well! I have my Grandma's old journal and would like to create a journal for her entries and keep them separate from my own. Having multiple journals would really come in handy!

I would also like multiple journals also: A work one plus personal/private. Why? I'd like to be able to separate the two clearly and for the work one I'd also set up a daily template (reflections on my staff performance, actions to chase down, strategic thoughts, etc ...) whereas for a personal journal I would make it more freeform and possibly also would like to see a rotating and/or random template that would provoke thought into different areas of my life.

It would be great if you could support multiple diaries but please keep the implementation as simple as possible.
I would like to be able to choose between multiple diary files when opening the application.

I have been using the app since early 2019 and am concerned that my database file will eventually become too large, resulting in reduced performance and long synchronisation times. This happened with a previous application but I was able to fix the issue by separating the database into separate files for each 2-year period.

kenC75 So you would need such a feature solely because you are concerned of the app slowing down once the database is too large?
I have no reason to assume this is the case with Diarium. Only the Cloud Sync could be slightly affected, but splitting the database would not solve this anyways... It rather would add more complexity

Hey, I have not read every comment in this thread. So if that idea already came up, ignore my request:

I also would love to see multiple diary support. Coming from DayOne, I used 8 dairies. My workaround is: Tags. Prior to exporting my entries, I tagged every entry with the name of that journal.

I also prefixed them with numbers, so I can sort the tag list an see my journals first.

Here's my idea: If I could "star"/fav a tag or drag a tag to the sidebar, this would kind of work for me as multiple journal. Becaus my use case is, I want to access quickly only notes within a specific journal. Whether the journal is a tag or a category does not matter to me.

PS: Colors for tags come handy here 🙂

Hi Timo, I love your app, it's the best I have found and I have tried many over the years. However I really liked the multiple diaries functionality of "Cintanotes" which had tabs along the top for different diaries. Perhaps have a look to see whether the concept would be adopted for your app. I would like to add my support to that you have already received in that I feel the addition of multiple diaries would be fantastic and potentially a major feature that would attract a lot more customers to your app.

I add my bits on the interest of multiples diaries / folders / tags :

could be nice for "chapters, in one's life" or travel diary for example, that would be "closed" at some point,
also to filter entries showing on the Map and Attachments list (similar to this request). This could be achieved with tags filter indeed, but then would have an extra tags in the already long tags list, (tag that would not be use later if we think of "Travel in Asia - Mai 2000")

We can think of a possibility for each diary / folder to :

have their own different cover ,
export / print in pdf / book (exclusif to pro account or in app purchases for example) by selecting one diary (instead of per date at the moment) / create separate files for each diary.
share a specific one with someone else (for parents or co travellers)

bducoffre Nice ideas. I really like the "chapters in one's life" theme. It would work nicely like you say for long periods of travel, university years, starting a new life abroad, a new relationship and could be a nice way to condense an otherwise long journal - especially in the On This Day view.

I copied a journal I kept for a year from when I was at high school into Diarium. It's good to have it preserved, but I don't need to see entries about dreading maths class or hanging round the park after school in my On This Day view!

Ich hänge mich auch mal ran.
Diarium ist die beste Tagebuch App die ich kenne.
Ich führe auch, leider mit anderer App, ein Traumtagebuch.
Es wäre super, wenn alles mit Deiner App möglich wäre.
Am besten beim Anmelden die Möglichkeit haben, welches Tagebuch benutzt werden soll.
Gibts schon Infos, ob und wann es kommt?
