Nice idea. Yes.
Multiple diaries?
- Edited
I definitely agree on this idea.
Especially the idea of allowing parents working on a shared diary and still have their own (maybe as a family license).
I would also like to be able to separate privacy and work entries.
Now I'm doing it by tags, but that is in my oppinion two different "diciplines"/diaries.
I’ve got to be honest, I was a proponent of having separate diaries for a long time, but the more I’ve been using multiple entries per day combined with tagging, the more I like this way of working.
My old journaling habit would see me write about everything in a single entry and that was the entry for the day. It would cover work and home life, traveling places, things I’d bought, thoughts about different people and situations. Then, if I tagged it, there would be at least 5+ tags for each long post.
But now, as I go through the day, I create a new entry each time I write. On an average day this could start with writing an entry to capture a dream I had (tagged dreams), an entry about the what time I woke, the weather etc (tagged diary). I could have an idea for something in the future (tagged ideas), and maybe I bump into an old friend in town and catch up (tagged with their name). I get a really nice email from my folks with news about my brother’s new job (tagged letters, and their names), and work went really well so I write a quick entry about that (work). Finally, in the evening I watch a really good movie and write my thoughts about it as well as adding the movie poster as a photo (tagged movies). Sometimes, I even post a ‘status’ update to Diarium rather than Facebook (tagged status) - it captures my mood or sentiment at the time nicely.
A year down the line, using the On This Day feature, it’s much easier to browse memories, rather than reading through a large block of text that covers multiple subjects. And of course, I can just view all entries by a tag - effectively acting as a separate ‘diary’ (work, dreams, diary).
With this in mind, I’d really like to be able to view entries via combined tags (multiple tags or tags + people), and also to be able to set the most representative image for the day in the calendar view rather than the image being drawn from the first entry.
Does anyone else work like this?
I pretty much does like you, redeyeshev
But I would still vote for multiple diaries.
That said, it's not nessesary two or more "books", could be special-entries/master-tags or whatever called, so that it's possible to write entries as today, but associate them to family (combined, one or more authors), travel, job, health or ? and "open" those master-tags as a stand alone diary, taged with tags from that specific diary.
So when you write the entry you decide the master-tag and thereby are presented with the tags associated with that "book".
A form of grouping tags in more levels.

Kurt Master tags and sub-tags - yes, that would be fantastic!
I also think private tags/shared tags would be a great feature.
I would enjoy sharing parts of my diary with my family!
But this raises some issues, like synchronization, when several people change the same entry. Maybe there is a "light" solution, having more chances to be implemented.
Another approach: synchronization of 2 Diarium databases, for entries having a specific tag. For example only entries with the tag <Family> are synchronized.
Synchronization could be implemented in Diarium, or even as a separate application, why not? In any case the feature is quite unique, and will add value to Diarium.
Looking for this feature as well. It will be great if you can add it to the app. Thanks.
This is a key feature for me and would make me move from Journey in an instant. The reason multiple journals are so appealing is you can split journals by specific requirements i.e. Dream journal, gratitude, work, fitness etc
Tags are a nice feature but they are not close to a separate journal structure.
I really want this to be a feature of Diarium. I just bought Diarium because of its nice cross-platform abilities. But additionally I would like to make diary notes when I am at work and keeping them strictly separate from my private notes. So please make multiple diaries a feature soon

I too would like to see multiple diaries. I'm nervous to try but can I just go to settings and click on "Reset login credentials" then login with as different user (other email address) and go back and forth between the two?
Vintagehotdog Changing the sync account doesn't allow you to have multiple diaries, it would just merge the two
I'd like to use Diarium as a diary for our kids to be edited by my wife and me. At the same time it works so well that I'd also like to use it for my own notes and keeping track of things that don't necessarily need to clutter up the view on my wife's devices.
So having a way to separate diaries would be great. I'd be open to having a tag based approach or having different folders on my WebDAV. However, everything should be able to sync via WebDAV so I can access the same data on all my devices.
Thanks a lot for this great app,
Bastian
Could the tags be toggled on/off to show on the calendar/timeline? That way if you wanted to tag something personal you could toggle off to appear on timeline/calendar and that would prompt using the tags tab for “Personal”?
I am new to Diarium and I love it... I hope this feature (multiple diaries/private diaries) comes sooner than later.
Please make a way to have two journals!! I want one for work, I love being able to track my clients, sales, follow ups, and so much more and this diary is PERFECT for that BUT I also love using it for my personal diary. I'm about to delete all my personal things and just have it for work That makes me SO sad!! Ill pay for another journal even, I bet a lot of us would!!
I would love a way to have multiple journals as well! I have my Grandma's old journal and would like to create a journal for her entries and keep them separate from my own. Having multiple journals would really come in handy!
I love these suggestions.

I would also like multiple journals also: A work one plus personal/private. Why? I'd like to be able to separate the two clearly and for the work one I'd also set up a daily template (reflections on my staff performance, actions to chase down, strategic thoughts, etc ...) whereas for a personal journal I would make it more freeform and possibly also would like to see a rotating and/or random template that would provoke thought into different areas of my life.
JohnE this would be super... coming from a DayOne background! I am now
