Add file: link to file instead of import file

I have all my personal and home documents on Dropbox.
I'd like to use Diarium to keep a log of activities and link related documents.

For example:
January 4, 2026 "Car maintenance" and link the PDF of the mechanic's invoice.

or
January 5, 2026 "Excel table updated" and link the Excel spreadsheet.

Currently, Diarium imports the PDF attachments from Dropbox.

Is it possible to create a link to the file in Dropbox without importing it?

This way, if I update the document (without changing the file name), Diarium is also updated.
Otherwise, I would have to delete the old attachment and upload the updated one.

You can always insert HTML links into your entry text. Why is this not working?

Yes, the link in a text works. I meant to create a link, rather than copying the file, when you click the Add File icon, and a file icon is added to the bottom of the post (on mobile).

What would be the advantage of "link-based attachments" instead of just normal links in the text?

The advantage is simply visual. Seeing the icon of an attached file, even if linked, is more significant than linked text. It also provides consistency with attached files.
