AJ As shown in the error message, this is a WebView2 problem. Did you forcefully uninstall that component from your Windows installation? Is there anything (e.g. so-called "Antivirus" programs) that is force-closing the WebView2 process? Can you try reinstall it? https://developer.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge/webview2/consumer

i clicked the link you provided and downloaded webview2
this is the message I received. it seems that webview2 is already installed, but the same error persists on diarium when setting up the sync

No error mesage, a day before sync was .normal. But now after I try to switch to google drive with my account, it does not work.
And on the surface of the program in the upper right corner there is no sign for syncronization.

Ludmila Please give a better error description than "it does not work". I can't help based on that explanation.

AJ Some error is happening in relation to the WebView2 that prevents it from showing up. Maybe the WebView2 installation is broken and reinstalling it fixes the problem. That said, I will look into offering a fallback authentication option (using the standard browser app) if such an WebView2 error happens - it's on my to do list. But it might take a few weeks until I publish this update

Hi, just an update. I no longer encounter the sync error due to webview2. I reached out to Microsoft Support regarding the installation error of WebView2 and they recommended re-installing the os which I did. It was a bit of a hassle but at least it works, and I can now use Diarium on my laptop. Would still be looking forward for the fallback authentication option using a standard browser app. Thank you!

For the last week, sync has been strange. No error message and most of the time it doesn't sync. When it does it duplicates entries. So, something like "Weather" apprears twice. Now the time is way off. I am US EDT and it is 4:09 pm right now but Darium says it is 1:28 am. The date matches. I sync through one drive and have version 3.1.42

The time on both my laptop and phone are correct. The time this morning is correct. The bigger issue is the sync. I like your app very much but the sync issue is annoying.

Hi Timo, To start, the date issue confused me. I thought it would reflect the current time but instaed it apears to be a time stamp of when you first made an entry that day. Is that the intention? As for the sync, either the laptop and the phone simply weren't sync even after syncing, or the sync would occur but erevry line with a change would dublicate. So let's say my weather line on the Laptop is "Weather:64- Sunny"
But I update the weather on my phone to "Weather: 64-86 Sunny". Once I sync I see:
"Weather: 64- Sunny"
"Weather: 64-86 Sunny"
This has been occurring for the last week or two. However, today it has not occurred so far.
Does that help? There is no error message or anything like that.

JonathanMoore Yes, the time of course shows the entry time and not the current time - Diarium isn't a clock app 🙂
Unfortunately, I cannot work with an error description like "the laptop and phone simply weren't sync even afetr syncing". I can only work with a much more detailed explanation:

app version on both devices
What exactly happens when you click the sync button
how exactly I can reproduce this issue on my side
how exactly do you update the "weather line"? Is this the weather integration or weather information that you inserted manually

Timo, I am not a tech guy. I cannot show you how to recreate the issue because it simply appears when logging in or after syncing. If it is something behind the scenes that is your area.
As I have said, you have a good product but your support is bordering on pathetic. You seem to want to avoid doing anything. I also get the distinct feeling you are looking down on me. I know it is not a clock app, but when you have the time displaying, I would think you would assume that people are going to make more than one entry. I'm using a template that has:

Weather
I do a weather because the one that comes up with location is unreliable as I have problems with the location. A site called Brownfield shows up every once in a while. I suspect that's in Texas and I'm in Connecticut.
I would strongly recommend that maybe you get some advice or training on how to interact with the public, particularly the public that may not be an app developer such as yourself and therefore does not have the technological acumen to answer all your technical questions.
I am not going to bother you anymore because it is more of a bother for me than anything else because you've done nothing. It's great that you have responded in a timely fashion. That's a plus. But when you respond with nothing or snide comments, that doesn't work. We'll keep using your product if for no other reason than it is paid for. But I would strongly recommend you get some advice on customer-owner relations. Have a nice day.

I'm sorry if you have that view of me - English is not my mother tongue, so I apologize if you got the feeling that I was insulting. I am not a trained support person, just an app developer who gives support for his app on the weekend.

Please understand that I don't really know how to help here, simply because I don't know how to reproduce this issue on my side. In my tests, the problem does not occur - that's why I was asking about clear steps that I could follow to reproduce it. At the moment I don't know on what platforms (e.g. Windows, iOS) you are using the app, what app version etc. I asked for app version in my last comment, but you haven't provided me that information. I want to help, but I can not help if you make it so hard for me

By default, the entry time is not shown. You would have to manually enable it in the app settings, the setting is called "Show time of entries". I hoped this would be enough to make it apparent that it's about the time of the entry. Do you have a suggestion on how to make this more clear or understandable?

Well, in my first post I gave you the version for the laptop: version 3.1.42; system: Windows. The phone is an android, specifically a Pixel 9a., version 3.1.44. Unfortuneately there are no real steps. As I said above I will open the app on one or the other device and update the information. As I showed with the weather line, I updated the end of day temp. When you update a little red "cloud" appears on the edge of the sync icon. If I click it the app syncs. Recently that would lead to duplicate lines. I can't show them to you as I did not document them. This issue has not occured since Thursday US EDT. Windows has had two updates since then; maybe they fixed the issue.

@JonathanMoore the latest app version on Windows is 3.1.44 - can you try updating and see if the problem also happens with that version?
When you make any updates to your journal, is the app in a "synced" state and the app closed on your other devices? Editing the same entry on multiple devices at the same time is not recommended and can lead to duplications like the ones you mentioned (because Diarium then cannot determine what the "correct" version of those entries are).
Please also double check that both the Windows and Android device are set to the correct time and time zone
