Text-Colours deleted on Windows Startup

Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce this issue on my side.
Does the same problem happen with other text formatting (e.g. bold, underline) as well, or only text color?

Hello Timo..
Same Problem here on my WindowsApp and not only in my templates, also in my daily entries.
Everytime I change fontcolor into any other colour than black (e.g. red or green) it will display the color until the app is active. Then I open diarium later again, and pick the last entry from Calender view it changed the colour into black. This is reproducible every time.. Interessting is, that the sync symbol recognizes that something changed, without that I changed anything, only the App changed fontcolor into black.

Also, does this only happen for font color, but not for the background color, bold, and other formatting options?

Hello Timo,

I recorded the issue, but it's to big to send you via mail. (About 100 MB, in mp4). I tried it several times, always the same and reproducible. And yes, it will only affect the fontcolor, not any other formatting options as I can see (e.g. bold/italic/underline).

Edit one entry (Change Fontcolor into red, change other formatting options bold/italic)
sync it
close the app
restart the app (rem: -> it takes about 30 seconds until the app is started again)
At this time everything fine, and the fontcolor is still red, (red for example) visible in Timeline
Now change to calendar view (or the edit view from timeline) and pick the entry (where the font was changed into red)
now the fontcolor reverted from red into black and sync symbol shows a change to be syncronized. (The other formatting options are still available).

Crazy but this is always the same, everytime I tried ;-).
This issue will always appear just in that moment, when you enter the edit mode of an entry.

Windows Version: 23H2 (Build 22635.4655) -> Win 11
Diarium Version: 3.1.12.0
Sync Option: Onedrive

PeterEhlert 30 seconds to start the app? There must be something wrong with either Windows or the database... How large is your database?
Can you put your recording in OneDrive and share the link with me? There shouldn't be any size limit for that

The 30 seconds to start appears not everytime. I think this happens sometimes while synchronizing the database.

Database ist just fresh because I'm new in using this diary, just only 900 KB.

Thanks! In your video, there are some interesting things that might help narrow down the problem:

You are using journal templates. Does the problem also happen when you disable the default template and start with an empty entry?
You are using a custom font. What font is that? Can you switch to the default Segoe UI font in the apps settings and see if the problem persists?
You say the problem happens when viewing the entry from the calendar page only. Are you sure the problem does not happen when navigating to that entry from the timeline view after a restart?

Also, that app startup time is insanely slow - I have never seen anything like it. Maybe it is related to the font...

Here my answers.. Seems to be a crazy phenomen ;-) I followed your steps and..

I disabled all templates and started with a new empty entry. The result is the same behavior
this font is named "courgette", (I'm using it often in Word, this font is also available on Android App). I switched to default Segoe UI and got also the same issue
as I described this morning, it happens everytime exactly in the moment, when entering the edit mode by klicking into it. From calendar view and also from timeline. :-/

Interesting that this slow startup time is not normal, maybe there's a problem with my OneDrive connection. Don't know, but I can live with it..

You could test that by temporarily disabling the Cloud Sync.

At the moment, I just don't have any idea or starting point what is causing this problem...

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

I use the default font and the other text formatting stays stable, only the colours are lost during reopening the application.

I used the WebDav Sync to my Nextcloud and after disabling that, the bug still appears.

adding a colourful entry
closing entry and closing the application
starting it again and chosing the entry from the calender and it is without colour again

Ah and my restart of the app only takes a few seconds. Less than 5.. with and without cloud sync

Update: Yesterday I installed Diarium on another Windows PC and left everything by default, also without any sync, other fonts and with a fresh empty Database. Everything worked fine and fontcolors have been persistend, after closing and reopening the app.
Then I synchronized my database and testet it again. Same result, fontcolors have been visible, all fine as expected.
So I think this must be a problem or a special side-effect that comes from my windows installation. I have no glue what can be the reason for that. The slow starting time could be the connection with my Microsoft ToDo app, after I disabled this, starting was fast..

Glad to hear it works on your other computer.
Can you double-check the Microsoft To Do thing? Are you sure it's connected with that? Is it reproducibly slow when it's enabled and always quick to start when it's disabled?

On my other computer it worked well, too. But since a few days I have the same Problem on my Windows 11 computer, too. I don't know what changed during the last days. I have installed your update today, thus it has nothing to do with that. I guess maybe some Windows Updates or other installations might be the reason.

Windows 11 Pro, 23H2 with latest updates.

I've done some testing, and I noticed that the problem only occurs with the first entry I open after starting the program. The first entry loses its text color, while all entries I open afterward retain their formatting. Interestingly, if I write a colored entry, save it, and then open it on my phone, the colors are displayed correctly.

The behavior remains the same even when I deactivate synchronization. Doesnt matter if I open the first entry from calender or from the timeline.

I seem to be having an identical issue as of today.
Everything started when I added a photo to one of my entries.
Suddenly, whenever I clicked on an entry in Diarium all the diffrent colours I used in it disappeared including those set in my own default template.
I have the premium version of Diarium both on my PC (Windows 10) and on my phone. I use Google Drive as cloud storage to transfer data between the two devices. This bug does not occur in my mobile version of the app.
I have already tried resetting, uninstalling the app, disconencting my Google account and whotnot. None of it worked.
Since I use the dark theme, my font colour keeps reverting to the default colour which in this case, is white. My frustration is indescribable...
I has been 2 months since this thread came to existance. Is there any direct solution to this bug ? or will it be fixed ?

The same problem: Highlights no longer work in version 3.1.18.0.
I can mark them, but when I call them again they are no longer there.
