Text Entry Disabled Until Sync?

Hi Timo, increasingly when I update entires from past years, I am suddenly unable to enter text until I have synced with the cloud. There is no accompanying error message, or prior warning - text entry is simply disabled until I sync.

Is this a deliberate feature? I'm pretty good about syncing and would never close the app without doing so, but this can happen literally five or six times in a session, sometimes even before I've added a single character. It can happen both with general text and in the Tag dialog box.

This issue doesn't seem to occur when I enter a new entry, or indeed update more recent ones.

OS + version: Windows 10

What do you mean with "text entry is disabled"? Can you explain that in more detail?
Diarium doesn't prevent you to enter text into text fields but I have heard (and experienced myself) that this happens sometimes. It's not a Diarium bug however, more a problem in the Windows framework so it's not possible for me to fix this. Changing the focus to another UI element and then back to the text field should resolve the problem.
I would also recommend updating Windows to Windows 11 if possible

Thanks for the customary quick response; I think you've answered clearly enough, but just to provide the detail you request, I simply mean that the keyboard effectively fails to function. As I tend to stare down at the keys when I type, I have often written whole paragraphs, before I notice there is nothing on the Diarium page.

When you say use 'another UI element', do you mean go into Word (say), then back to Diarium?

No, I would try to focus the "heading" line and then the normal "text" field again. Usually that should resolve the problem.
As it is a Windows issue, maybe updating to Windows 11 helps
