Within the search option there is a possibility to narrow down the search results by filtering. This may be helpful, but I think there should also be filtering options at a higher level to narrow down the visible parts of your journal, while keeping the full functionality of Diarium.
For instance if I want to see where I have been during a long holiday, I can look in the timeline or create a tag for that specific holiday, but on the map I will still see all places where I have ever been.
If it was possible to use global filters, I could create separate diaries for every holiday on the fly.

You mean

  • Map search filter:
Lets say for example for holiday tag or certain date range or only with attachments etc.
  • Timeline search filter
  • Calendar search filter
  • Attachment search filter:
Only images, only videos, files or combinations etc.

For my purpose a date range (combined with tag(s)) would do, but I imagine there will be other useful filters. What I mean is that if I enter a filter (say a date range) Diarium will behave just as if I only entered notes within that period of time. All others do not exist in this view.
