or show as first tag and long pressing the tag should copy the coordinates

Can you please add the co-ordinates somewhere in the entry?

Right now i have to export just to see the co-ordinates which is really long process.

I am heavily relying on diarium for my daily activities.

@timo is it difficult to do this?
Or any technical reason that this can't be implemented?

I can understand if it's a limitation but if it's feasible please do consider this request. This makes a ton of difference in my life while adding entries.

Hope you understand.

@redeyeshev what do you think of this request?
I think you are using diarium app from long time.
May be you can provide your option on this and how you are handling the situation(if it ever occurred)

AvinashR I really like the location tagging feature and seeing my posts on a map as I have lived in a lot of different places in the UK over my life. Admittedly I don't use it at much as I could. As a workaround to your issue, personally I would just go into the map to find the previous map pin and add the new one.

Coding-wise, I don't know how feasible this would be, but yes, a way of doing it could be a long-press on the currently assigned location, then in a new entry when you tap 'add location' Diarium could detect that there are co-ordinates in the clipboard and ask to add them to the entry.

Alternatively, a nice option would be a locations palette for regularly visited locations where you can add location presets (home, office, school, parents' house, in-laws' house etc) and assign locations from those presets.

    I am manually now.

It would be good to have.
Coding wise, i think its not that big deal as i can see that it's already pinned to the location. That is possible only when there are available co-ordinates in hand.
I am not asking to provide the location name as that would take some effort to convert co-ordinates to names. I just want plain text co-ordinates somewhere in entry.

I will even copy paste the co-ordinates myself if fetching clipboard functionality is difficult and time consuming.

@timo please change title to show co-ordinates to entry if clipboard copy is not feasible.

I would also love to be able to copy the gps coordinates. I have been able to retrieve them by exporting to a .docx file, or using the SQLite Browser to open the database, but it shouldn't be that hard. The information is already there. Perhaps the easiest would be to provide a settings option to display the coordinates on the day edit page - just above the weather and tags lines. That could be toggled on and off in the Personalization menu, along with such things as "Show time of entries"

I am wondering if having context menu option in timeline view is better than redesign in map view
    Or even tag

That way no need to add icon or add extra tag.

This works because we have only one location for each entry.

This will also save time because we don’t have to go to mapview for copying corordinates

With the next version, there will be a context menu on the small map (bottom right of the entry page), accessible via long-press (mobile) or right-click (Desktop). The context menu will have two actions:

    • Open in Google Maps -> this will launch the location in Google Maps (launches Google Maps app if installed, otherwise browser)
    • Remove location -> removes location without having to first click on the location and use the delete button on the "location page"

Thank you so much for this
      Much awaited for me

timo Open in Google Maps -> this will launch the location in Google Maps (launches Google Maps app if installed, otherwise browser)

      Is it platform specific?
I mean in ios, will it open apple maps instead of google maps?

I am actually using google maps in ios too. Apple maps is not accurate in every country afaik.

For now it will always open Google Maps. You can copy coordinates from there and paste it elsewhere if you need to

      Thanks
That’s exactly what i wanted. Google maps

      Hi @timo
      Just installed latest version

Is it possible to have confirmation for “remove location”
While long pressing my finger went close to red button and location got removed 😥

I dont plan to add a confirmation dialog to that for now. There's also no confirmation dialog when deleting location from the location page.

timo There's also no confirmation dialog when deleting location from the location page.

True. But that button is in separate place and no chances of accidental clicks.
Whereas long pressing might actually select delete button.
Just today i actually deleted a location rather open in google maps as my finger was close to delete button and I don’t have a location now 😢

UNDO didn’t help in this situation.(i think this only for text editing)

Pleas provide any solution to avoid accidental deletion

I am thinking to include this option within entry menu rather than adding directly to location.
This might confuse someone people but better be safe than not deleting accidentally

Other option is not to include the delete button on long pressing(just show open in googles maps). There is a delete button inside mapview already.
