Timeline visualizing

It would be a monster feature to visualize a timeline with the entries using filtering by tags / search, people and place. Of course, it should be possible to zoom in and out not to lose the overview.

The great benefit is, that you could visually see, based on filter criteria, when things happen and in which time intervals.
It might be best to add this option to the current timeline as alternative visualization.

I've been searched for such a thing for ages an couln't find any solution bringing all things together. If the visualization would be part of Diarium it satified a great wish shared by many of my collegues as well.

that makes me think of google photo scrolling view, that would look GREAT for a diary indeed !!

I like this idea a lot though I'm struggling to see just how it would integrate with tags/people. Perhaps it would require another set of 'tags' a bit like Facebook's Life Event that you could add to entries which would then display on the timeline?

I would find it very satisfying to add different events like moving house, baby born, starting a new job, holidays, and then to see them on a timeline.

Well I think there are options to integrate without overwhelming.

With the current features you can use the tags by yourselfe to define important life events or similar just by an own naming convention. A grouping of tags would of course be another feature but it is possible with the current. So for example if you want to see your movings you could just filter on that tag and the timeline would illustrate it. It might also be possible to multi select tags just to get an impression when important things have happened. As Diarium allows to add people and even tracker information you could combine those to just show results in a certain combination like "Show me all activities with People X in location Y"

An idea to keep things clear might be just to show the tags / colours / locations / tracker data in the timeline before you enlarge the entries.
Another idea could be to give layers with enabling/disabling.
I can also imagine that it could be possible to design it slimmed to allow even free text search not focussing on tags only. To slim it down for example the visualization could be show the number of entries at a spot only if it cannot be displayed due to readability.

I was thinking about this some more today when I was scrolling through the attachments view. If 'life event' tags were introduced, they could be overlaid nicely in the attachments view. Currently you see a large date number, then month and year in the bottom corner of the thumbnail. It could work nicely with the tagged 'life event' in the top left corner of the thumbnail.
