switching from DayOne

hope this is OK here.
Ive been looking for an alternative to Dayone so I can move completely away from Apple to Android and windows for a new laptop.
Diarium certain seems to be the way to go.
I need to install it on a 2014 MBP running Catalina then install my dayone data from the JSON file Ive created
then.. sync with Diarium on a new PC.
Question:
my MBP may not be up to MACOS11 which seems to be required to install Diarium, so is there a version that can be installed on MacOS10?
OR.. can a JSON file from the Mac be imported directly to the PC with Diarium installed?

I am unsure which way to go.

No, there is no Diarium version for pre-MacOS 11.
Yes, the JSON file can be imported on any Diarium version, also in the Windows one.

Thanks, I found my MBP is supported by MacOS 11 and it installed and imported most, not all, of my 5000+ entries.
the challenge now is to get sync working via dropbox to my ipad pro, android (running Graphene OS) and new windows laptop.

Oh dear, after downloading Diarium for windows I tried four time to install it on a new Windows laptop, all failed.

When there's install issues then this is due to a Windows problem. What exact error message do you see?
I would recommend making sure there are no pending Windows updates.
If nothing works, I can issue a refund.

getting there slowly, installed fine on PC, data uploaded.
NOW the problem is dropbox, i dont understand it. Each time two devices sync it is trying to download all 5400 entries instead of updating only changes.

any idea?

O I dont understand dropbox, it works fine with Joplin, another app i use, Yes and have read thru FAQ, but each time is sync between two computers both with all data from DayOne installed, the sync process says "syncing Diary...uploading local attachments...(****/5859). This is 400 more entries than I began with, and of course takes ages.
Really dont understand this process. My other app just syncs entries that have changed, takes about a minute.

"Attachments" is not "entries".
Attachments is pictures, videos etc.
If the app wants to upload them, that means that they are currently not in Dropbox.
You need to wait until the process finishes successfully. Subsequent syncs will be much faster.
6000 attachments is a lot so it surely takes a while, I can't make your internet connection faster 😉

Hi, it's been about 19 months since starting to use Dairium and I think it is fantastic. I only use it on my laptop because I've been unable to use it and sync with my DeGoogled android, which uses a privacy focussed OS (GrapheneOS).
Against my better judgement I just installed on my phone and synced via Google Drive using an anonymous account name. My concern is for Google being most untrustworthy with data, but I have to say that nearly 7000 entries came across to my phone brilliantly and it's nice to have an alternative location for my precious personal journal.
Three questions:

Is there a way to add some privacy block against Google having my data?. They are known not to give it back and to store it forever.
Is there yet an option to use privacy focused cloud services? I use two, Proton Drive and P-Cloud?, I have asked before but am hoping there have been changes.
On my android it shows me being on a trial period for the pro version. When I paid for the desktop version I also paid for the android app ($13 or so) How do I register this payment and unlock the app?
