This was recorded with the A52 and Samsung keyboard with basically factory settings.
No idea what I could do next...

Thanks. I am happy continuing to use the Google keyboard which ensures that the list feature works for me.

FYI - my phone just pushed a software update and now, if I go back to the Samsung keyboard, the unordered/ordered lists problem is gone.

Thanks for the info! Must have been a Samsung issue after all 😃 Not surprised by this, Samsung devices are always acting differently for some reasons...

I just installed the app and currently having this issue right now. Using the Samsung keyboard on my s20 5g. Any way I can fix this besides waiting until this software update?

DerekChu I think switching to a different keyboard app (e.g. Google keyboard) would workaround this problem

Hi timo ,, having same issue on s23 ultra and galaxy tab, is there anyway to fix this as samsung keyboard have keys cafe module which helps in customising it nicely.

It's December 24, 2023. Just updated to Adriod UI 6.0. Same problem on ordered lists. I will switch to Google keyboard. I'll let you know.

Downloaded Gboard from Play Store. Installed and made it the default keyboard. Diarium appears to be working now.

Was finally able to reproduce this issue on my device and implemented a non-trivial workaround for it.
Underlying issue is the "Suggest text corrections" / Grammarly feature of the Samsung keyboard app.
I hope Samsung will fix this problem in a future update so I can remove this ugly workaround again, but for now it should workaround this problem

Paul No - it simply won't work any more in Diarium. You can disable it now (until the new version is available) to workaround the issue immediately

I've now received two bug reports from Samsung users related to auto-correct here and here.

Not sure what to do next. This stupid Samsung keyboard is driving me crazy...
Btw, I also tested other journal apps like Day One - I believe they implemented the same workaround for the Samsung keyboard issue and auto-correct also isn't working in the Day One app as a result (e.g. apostrophes aren't automatically inserted in words like "don't" or the word "I" isn't auto-capitalized).

Unfortunately, contrary to the article I posted above, the Grammarly feature still hasn't been removed from the Samsung keyboard, at least on my device.

Edit: With the next version I will do some small change to the workaround, which should re-enable autocorrect. But in my testing, the list & formatting issues caused by Grammarly appeared again occasionally (however less frequently than without the workaround). Curious to hear some feedback from Samsung keyboard users if the experience is somewhat ok then
