Problem migrating from Journey

OS: MacOS Monterey 12.01 | Hardware: M1 iMac | Diarium Version: 2.18.16 (pro)

Replicatable error: unable to import Journal App generated .zip file into Diarium. App message is: "Zero entries have been successfully imported"

Process in Diarium: Preferences>Diary>Migrate from other app>Journey chosen > .zip chosen > error
Process in Journey > Preferences>Database>Select Journal Entries>All selected>.zip file > airdropped to new machine

I have verified that the zip file has the correct number of json files. All attempts have been with Journey App-generated zip files.

I received your file. I was not able to reproduce any problems during the migration. It imported all 82 entries without an issue.
Maybe you already imported them and then tried again? The app will not migrate duplicates.

I'm new to Diarium but I've been using Journey Journal for quite some time.

When I try and migrate my Journey export zip files to Diarium I get the same message that the previous user reported.
0 entries have been imported successfully.

I am using the Migrate From Other App button then then choosing the zip file.

I was hoping to switch from Journey to Diarium for the Word Export feature. Is there anything else that I can try..?

Jim For the Journey zip file, were you using Google Drive sync for Journey or were you using Journey’s new proprietary Cloud Sync?

Their new proprietary sync does give you a zip file, but does not seem to be supported by any app that supports Journey’s regular Google Drive sync zip file.

That being said, you seem to be doing the right steps. Maybe you can try exporting from Journey one more time? In my experience, sometimes Journey does not fully export the file in full and a second time is the charm.

I don't know how the Journey sync works, but you are supposed to create a Jourey backup in the app settings and use that for the Diarium migration. At least this is how I implemented and tested this migration feature

timo Yeah, with their new proprietary sync, the zip file seems to be a bit different in its config, and the backup featue is only to re-import into Journey, while the export feature, now separate, is to import into other apps.

What I had to do for it to work with Diarium: backup Journey Cloud zip file, import it into Journey again after enabling Google Drive sync, export the zip file while Google Drive sync was enabled, and then import into Diraium. It is not as time-consuming as it seems. Seems like the two zip files are configured differently, but I can only go based off of my own experience. Journey Cloud sync just came out not too long ago, so I don’t know how many people even bothered to switch sync methods.

Silas I am using the new Journey Cloud Sync. My hunch is the same as yours. The zip file must be slightly different and as a result does not import.

I will try the process that you used to see if I can get it to work. Export from Journey Cloud Sync, Import to Google Drive, Export from Google Drive, Import to Diarium.

I haven't been able to figure out how to export Journey's newer Cloud Sync entries to be exported out - even to re-import into Journal. Where is that setting?

Taka Torimoto On the Android app, I think you need to select "Local" under the "Data and cloud services" setting and then you come to a page where there's an "export/backup" menu item

Hi @timo, sorry for bringing back an old thread, but I'm experiencing this issue.

I can export the data from Journey, but it seems it has not the correct shape for Diarium to read it and it always says "0 entries imported".

The zip I downloaded has a bunch of folders with random strings, one for each diary entry, inside there is a .json file with the entry's info, and the photos.

Can you please tell me the structure for the content of the zip file that Diarium is expecting? I can write a small script to reformat the structure and zip it again so I can import it, but I need to know what Diarium is expecting.

I'm seriously considering buying Diarium for Android (and maybe for Windows), but I want to make sure it fits my expectations.
