need help to rescue my journal data

Hi Timo,

Hope you are doing well.

I am experiencing a critical crash issue with Diarium.
When I tap to open Diarium, it crashes immediately right after splash screen, I cannot get into the main interface at all.

My environment:

• Device model:iPhone 14 pro

• OS version:iOS 16.2

• Diarium app version:3.3.2
I have enabled WebDAV sync (Nutstore / Nextcloud).
Troubleshooting I have tried so far：

Force‑close Diarium and restart my phone, still crash.
Turn off Wi‑Fi, run Diarium offline, it still crashes on opening.
There are many journal entries with photos and voice/audio recordings, most of them are parent‑child parenting diaries, very important to me.
I dare not uninstall or clear app data, for fear of losing all my local journal records.

Questions I want to ask：

Is there any way I can get Diarium to open successfully?
If the app keeps crashing, is there a method to manually export my local journal database before repairing or reinstalling?
Could corrupted WebDAV sync or corrupted audio attachments cause this immediate‑launch crash?

These journals contain several years of my kid’s growth records, data loss will be a huge loss for me.

Besides, I have a new phone ready. I hope to transfer all my existing Diarium journals to the new device. But since the old app cannot open normally, I don’t know how to complete the sync.

Please kindly give me some guidance. Thank you very much.

Since you used WebDAV sync, please first make a backup copy of the complete Diarium folder in your Nutstore/Nextcloud storage. Then install Diarium on your new iPhone, connect it to the same WebDAV account and start synchronization.
Please verify that your entries and attachments are present before uninstalling Diarium from the old phone.

timo Thank you for your advice.
I cannot remember whether I had WebDAV sync enabled on my old phone. Now Diarium crashes immediately on launch, I cannot open the app at all, so I have no way to perform manual export or backup inside the app.

Could you please tell me: is there any other way to extract or back‑up the local journal data from the old device when the app cannot be opened?
I am very worried that some recent entries have never been uploaded to WebDAV cloud storage.
I will make a full backup copy of the Diarium folder in my WebDAV storage first, then install Diarium on my new iPhone and sync with the same account, and verify all entries and attachments before touching the old crashed device.

But I’m afraid the cloud only contains the last successfully‑synced version, not the latest local records on my old phone.

Please check the modification date of v4_database inside the WebDAV Diarium folder and send a screenshot showing the file names, sizes and dates.

Please also send the latest Diarium crash report from iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Analytics Data to diariumapp@outlook.com.

Finally, create an encrypted local backup of the old iPhone using Finder on a Mac or Apple Devices/iTunes on Windows. Diarium does not need to open for this. Please do not uninstall it from the old phone.
