AI in Diarium?

Hi! I’ve been a Day One user for a long while now, and with their latest “update” - adding in AI chat junk and increasing the subscription price - I’ve finally hit my breaking point. I’ve been using the trial of your app on my phone the past few days and really liking it. Before purchasing, I was curious if you had any intention of adding AI / LLM / other such “features” to your app any time?

There are many feature requests around AI and I see how such an integration could make sense - e.g. to find diary entries without having to use a specific search word.
It is possible that I will add a small AI integration in the future, but only when several preconditions are met (e.g. that the AI works completely offline and no data is being sent off to some server). And as with every feature, if I add it, I will make sure that it won't get in the way of existing users who don't want to use it.

In short, there are no current plans for AI integration. It’s entirely possible I’ll never add it, but also possible that I will at some point in the future.

I don't like AI either. If I needed AI, I could easily just open a browser window and go to Chatgpt. I don't see the need to integrate it in Diarium.

Bielefeld I think there are valid use-cases where it could make sense for some users.
For example, I always start by writing some sentences about my day in the main text area and then I spend more time than I want to come up with a good name for the entry header. AI could easily generate that for me based on the entry text.
Also, as I indicated above, often I search for some event in the past and I'm having trouble finding it because I don't enter the exact search term for it to come up. AI could find entries quicker and more reliable when I give it a prompt to what to search for.
It could also help for aggregating data or finding trends, however I personally would use this less.

In order to achieve what I described above, you'd first have to do a database backup/export of your Diarium data and then upload it to some server that isn't under your control. I'm not sure if I'd do that, for time and privacy reasons 😉
