Link to Google maps timeline

Idea: Have a link (or button) to Google maps timeline (location history) to a current day, from specific diary record.

The link is pretty simple - https://maps.google.com/maps/timeline?pb=!1m2!1m1!1sYYYY-MM-DD
ex: https://maps.google.com/maps/timeline?pb=!1m2!1m1!1s2018-08-28
If user have google maps installed - then app will be launched with timeline opened at selected date. Otherwise this will be browser window.

Yes, this does not makes sense for users who not using location tracking, but to me I found it pretty useful.

Ideally, I'd like to have integration with google timeline page into Diarium, but have no idea how it could be possible.

The more I think about it the more I like this idea...
Of course, ideally it would be cool to also have a preview of the timeline in the app itself, but this might be not possible. a "tag" that acts like a link to the Maps app or browser window might be good enough though

Let me go into more detail why this is so awesome. I have been using https://gyrosco.pe (and other Tools before) mostly for the location history feature for years. It enables me to go back a year or three, look at where I have been on a day (and a few days before and after) and I can remember pretty exactly what I did during that day. It adds a lot of context, just like pictures to a journal, even without having to write anything down.

I will add this to the next update. It will simply show a tag-styled link which will open the Google Timeline (on mobile in the Maps app, if installed - otherwise in the web browser)

Thanks so much, I was looking forward to this one!

Small piece of feedback; It took me a minute to find the setting. I didn't really understand the purpose of the "Feed & Events" tab. I wonder if the title of that menu could be more accurate, like "Automated Tags" or so. I also only now discovered support for the System Calendar there, which is also super great, I wish I had found it earlier!

Since Google Timeline seems to be going away for browsers (more info here), I will disable this feature on macOS + Windows in a future update, as it won't provide value any more

First... I love this Diary and have been using it every day.

Was wo during if anything has changed re the Google timeline link?
Ive got access to most up yo 5 years timelines.. that is, if I go to date January 15, 2020 in my Diary, and I click the green Google timeline Tag, Link on the set page, it auto takes me to that day in Google maps timeline.
However, I have noted that if I go back a bit further, dates that were available previously... as in, if I go to January 2017, the link is there but when I click on it, it just takes me to today's Google timeline and not back to the 2017 date. I wonder what had changed?
It was working perfectly to any date previously.

AnthonyTok Sounds like you don't have any timeline on that date then. Diarium always shows the button if enabled, as it can't tell if you have a timeline for a given day or not

Sadly no,
I have daily timeline on Google maps dating back for many years with no missed dates.
I have checked permission settings for location too.
If I go to any date and press the timeline link on the Diary, it just takes me to today's date as a default. All entries in maps are there.
Any ideas ? It was working perfectly until recently.

Hi Timo,
The Timeline isse is resolved.
Afyer some scouting, and realising i have over 15 years worth of tinelibes on Google maps, the fix was to go to Google maps, clear the Data and Cache. I logged out of Google maps and afyer clearing both cache and data within the Map app, relaunched and the Diarium link was working perfectly again.
