App persistently unresponsive on iPadOS

I've encountered a sudden issue with the app on iPad OS. The app seems to behave normally until I place my cursor anywhere in an entry. The entire app becomes unresponsive, and I can't type anything or interact with any elements. I've reset my iPad, reinstalled the app, tried different keyboards, and updated to iPadOS 26.0.1. The issue is still persistent. I'm currently unable to write new entries or edit existing ones. It seems the app is permanently bugged on my device.

OS version: iPad OS 26 and 26.0.1
Device model: iPad Pro M2

I just tested with my iPad and couldn't reproduce any hangs or unresponsiveness. Maybe you need to narrow down in what situations this is happening specifically so I can reproduce it

The issue happens no matter what other apps are open or whether I have an external keyboard connected or not. I also just noticed that the pop up keyboard comes up and gets stuck just barely visible at the bottom of the screen. When I rotate from landscape to portrait, the app shifts without scaling properly, and the pop up keyboard remains stuck and doesn't move. The area where the keyboard would have gone is blank. Typing in other apps works fine, so I know it's specifically an issue with Diarium and not a system wide problem. I've attached screenshots.

I also did some rotation tests with and without physical keyboard, but still not hangs for me. Also haven't heard from other users about such a problem yet.
I will soon build a new app version that is compiled with the new XCode, perhaps that will fix the issue for you

You are not alone… I have the same problem (iPadOS26.0.1). When I open Diarium and start typing the App freezes immediately or just show one letter and then freezes. The App works perfectly works OK when I detach the keyboard and use the on-screen keyboard.

I also notice sometimes that the menu bar gets stuck in the middle of the screen or that I see a tiny part of the iPad dock in the lower end of the screen.

I hope this helps finding out where to look for the problem. Let me know if you need more information on my configuration.

Just to add: Diarium seems to work perfectly in ‘Windowed’ mode and keeps working when put back in full screen mode.

P.S. James is right: a small part of the virtual keyboard is visible when the App freezes.

Would it be possible if one of you posted a screenshot of what exactly the screen looks like when the app freezes? That might help me reroduce the issue

I tried a few things in windowed mode and then in full screen mode and that worked still OK. Then I disabled windowed mode on the iPad and tried again. That worked as well.

Then (with windowed mode disabled) I closed Diarium and opened it again. Then, after one keypress, the screen freezes as shown in the image.

I am still unable to reproduce this - no matter if I try with on-screen keyboard, the Apple keyboard cover or a bluetooth-connected Logitech keyboard.

Shouldnt the on-screen keyboard not appear when a bluetooth keyboard is connected?
I'm still quite confused in what situations this issue is happening? On-screen keyboard? Bluethooth keyboard? Docked keyboard?

Does the problem only happen in the entry details page or also on other pages where you can enter text - e.g. the template creation/editing page?

And just to be sure: You are all on iPadOS 26.0.1?

Yes, I use iPadOS 26.0.1.
In my case it happens with the regular external Apple Magic Keyboard iPad Pro 11” (4th gen).
As far as I can see it only happens in the details page. I can type in the Search text box for example.
The moment I get to the details page and I press one key, the program freezes.

I've experienced the issue on iPadOS 26 and 26.0.1. The issue only happens when you open an entry and start typing. The app behaves normally in the timeline. When I start typing, the apple keyboard tries to pop up and gets stuck at the bottom of the screen, causing the app to freeze. If I use the workaround that vdsteenm brought up earlier where I start the app in windowed mode, the app behaves normally until it's closed.

I am having the same issue. I start an entry and it just suddenly becomes unresponsive. It’s really annoying. I have to close the app and re-open it, losing all I have typed in the process. I’m on an iPad Pro 11” with the Apple MAgic Keyboard, running iPadOS 26.0.1. Works fine on my iPhone 16Pro.

While I am still unable to reproduce the hang, I have made a change to the app that might resolve this. It will be in the next update, which I hope to upload in the next few days.

I updated to version 3.1.63, and the bug seems to be gone. I can access and type in my entries without anything freezing.
