Diarium will not launch

Diarium just stopped working. I've been using it all day and 15 minutes ago I tried to open it again and nothing happened. I rebooted my system and it still won't launch. I opened the Task Manager and there's nothing that looks remotely like Diarium.

If I uninstall it and reinstall it, will all my data come back? Losing everything would be a disaster.

Is it possible your Antivirus app quarantined Diarium? See here.
You can safely reinstall if you are using the Cloud Sync. If not, you need to manually backup the database first, which is located under this path:

%localappdata%\Packages\49297T.Partl.DailyDiary_jr9bq2af9farr\LocalState\diary.db

Please make sure to report this false-positive to the developer of the antivirus app. If you share more detailed information about the reason why it was quarantined, I might also be able to take action

I have now the same problem, diarium does not start. I reinstalled it from microsoft store. Same problem. I have only the inbuild windows anti-virus software running. I got no message that there was a anti-virus problem. By the way: %localappdata%\Packages\49297T.Partl.DailyDiary_jr9bq2af9farr\LocalState is empty

Joachim That folder likely is empty after reinstalling, it will only be populated after app-launch.
What error is shown in the Event viewer program in Windows under "Windows Logs" -> "Application"?

No this error message is unrelated. Is there no error message showing up right after you unsuccessfully started the app?

When I (unsuccessfully) try to start Diarium no new error message is logged in the "Ereignisanzeige->Windows-Protokolle->Anwendung". Should I look somewhere else?

Just to be sure: there are no pending Windows updates and no pending updates for you in the Microsoft Store? You restarted Windows also?
Can you make a screen recording video and send it to me (diariumapp@outlook.com)? This might help me getting an understanding of what is happening.

Diarium isn't opening for me either on Windows 10, I get no error messages, just nothing happens.

I also Use AtomicClock and WorkingHours, they no longer open on Windows 10 either.

Nothing has changed on my computer in the last 4 days other than these 3 apps stopped working.

Edited to add: I tried running it as administrator, reinstalling it, and repairing it. Still doesn't open. Looking in Windows Logs>Application I can see everytime I try to run Diarium I get Security-SPP EventID: 16384. "Offline downlevel migration succeeded." or "Successfully scheduled Software Protection service for re-start at 2125-09-05T22:15:14Z. Reason: RulesEngine."

This really sounds like a Windows issue to me - I also noticed the Microsoft Store was extermely laggy yesterday, maybe you can try again today?

I don't know if this is even still a thing, but it's like the .exe file has moved? I can't think of any other explanation for hitting a Taskbar button (that's worked fine for years) and literally nothing happening?

As I wrote above, the app went through a big rework and it caused the .exe to be quarantined for some users using antivirus programs. But if this was the case, I think Windows would show an actual error message.

All I can currently suggest is to re-install the app. I have stopped the rollout of the new app yesterday and uploaded a new update, so reinstalling might fall back to the old (UWP) app.

If other of my apps (e.g. WorkingHours, GeoPhoto) also do not launch for you, I really think Windows/Microsoft is to blame here. I had my GeoPhoto and WorkingHours apps published for months and there were no issues with launching them.

If you see any Diarium-related error messages in the Event viewer at the location I wrote above, please share them with me

For those experiencing this issue, I would be interested in the following information:

Which app version is installed (can be viewed in Windows Settings)
What is the output of this Powershell command? Get-AppxPackage -Name "Microsoft.WindowsAppRuntime.1.8"

1) Is the .exe file called 'diarium.exe'? If so, I can't find it on Windows Explorer
2) I am using version 3.1.58.0
3) I copied the Powershell command exactly as you typed it, and then again without the space after 'AppXPackage' but only received an error message; should I be replacing some of the command with Diarium's details, and if so, what?
