Calendar sync doesn't create entries?

Calendar events on mobile appear as entries but do not copy into the entry, so I cannot view them on a desktop. I would like to be able to view my Google Calendar events for a given day on my desktop. I looked at the desktop settings and the option for calendar is there, which is making me think it's only a real-time view and doesn't create an entry within the app, which is unfortunate. I had thought it was a hard record that was inserted into a given day.

The feature isn't a "(Google) calendar sync" but a "system calendar integration" - it does not create any entries, just dynamically enriches existing ones. There's a few existing discussions here in the forums already, incl feature requests for a dedicated Google calendar integration and a feature requests to turn tags/"events" (like calendar appointments) into entry text.
