timo Hi Timo, I love the app! I have the same problem. My primary google playstore account and what I bought the Pro version with keeps somehow disconnecting and it prompt me to buy a Pro version with my work Google. The only thing that has worked for me is uninstalling it and reinstalling from the correct Google playstore but it takes a long time because of all the attachments. And then it happens again. I am in a place of low reception so I can't even do it now. 😟

TaniaPatch When you reinstall it with the correct account, are you sure the Pro version is fully applied and you are not just in the "trial" mode? Then it should not lose the Pro version again. If it still does, please send me the exact date and time of both the time of installation and time when it lost the Pro version again.

And you can "skip" the long re-download from the Cloud by creating a local database backup that you can re-import

TaniaPatch Hello Tania, my steps that worked for me:
in Settings -> I went to google/Google Services
And here, my default account was in place. Still it was possible to get the list of active google accounts here.
Thus the next step was to delete that other account that was causing the issue.
And since now, only one account left that I consider a master one.
After that I did reinsall the app, but I beleive, it was not needed.

Dont forget to start with a local backups before doing anything.

Hi! Yes I am certain as I use it multiple times a day and sync it with my dropbox. This is the 3 or 4th time it's disabled the sync and said I need to get the Pro version. I try to journal in the morning on my PC with its own pro version from the Microsoft store, then through out the day as I add notes or links it syncs and everything matches up on the PC. At the moment I have limited reception so I can't uninstall and download it again, when I am home in wifi I will do it again.

Hi Timo, I just reinstalled it today 2/17/2025 at approximately 5:55pm EST. It is the Pro version and I have it connected to my dropbox account where it downloaded the backup from and I have created a post that it saved to the dropbox backup.

I will post again when it drops the Pro version again.

I also noticed that on this and the other posts it pulled the Google photo from my work account, NOT the account linked with my play store. I got to the discussion board by clicking on the link within the app for the FAQ when it had dropped the Pro version. So for some reason it is pulling the image from that Google account instead of the one that is my primary on the phone or play store. I think this is somehow related.

TaniaPatch Diarium is just using the Android APIs when retrieving the photos. It really should just return the photos that are on your device, unrelated to any Google account.

And just to clarify: After reinstalling, there is no Pro version menu item and there is no "trial" text in the side menu?

It just did it again! On my phone says I don't have a pro license even though I have been using it fine until this morning

timo yes, Android. It's been fine for month and then all of a sudden today did this again. Yes, I have 2 google accounts on my phone, but my play store account is the one I used to download Diarium and that is the only one logged in.

TaniaPatch2 Can you narrow down the exact time it happened and perhaps also tell your device model - maybe I find some logging that clears things up.
I assume when you try to buy the app again, the Play Store wants to purchase it with your other account (not the one you originally used)?
Are you sure there are not two accounts listed in the Play Store app when you click on the account icon on the top right?

timo In the play store under my purchases it shows I purchased on Sept 9 2024. That is under my primary account that is logged into my phone and nothing changed today that would have changed that. It happened 5 minutes before I posted here. I use Diarium everyday and love it, have no idea why suddenly this morning this happened.

The other play store accounts that exists are a by product of having a Gmail address but that account isn't used to do anything on the playstore.

Phone is Galaxy S24

TaniaPatch2 Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I wasn't yet able to find any usable info in the logs.

Are you sure that when you open the Play Store app and click on your account on the top left, then the expand button, there is no other Google account listed? From my experience, I think accounts are added there automatically once you add another Google account to your device
What exactly happens when you try to purchase the Pro version again in the app? If the Play Store uses your "old" account, the app should just "find" the ecisting license and enable it. Otherwise, if the purchase process goes on, it must use a different Google account.
Are you using a standard S24 or a S24+/Ultra?
What app version is installed? I believe an older version of the app (v3.1.12 from December) had a bug that would reset the Pro version incorrectly in some cases

Yes there are other accounts in the playbstore if I click on the profile to expand, but they one that is active and open is the one I purchased with.

I think I found a work around. I logged out of my other email (multiple email) even though its not the primary open email. Once I did that in Diarium when it asked me to buy Pro again and I went through the steps it said I owned it already.

I have logged back into my other email again and so far its working OK. I don't know why I tries to revert itself to a different background email/playstore/account than the primary.

I'm afraid that Google Play has it's own logic choosing the account that it uses to query the license information for apps like Diarium. That's just a bug on Googles side that dates back many years and was never fixed.

Good. Please make sure you're on the latest app version and the issue should hopefully not happen again
