Flickering thumbnail in attachement on MAC

When I switch to attachment tab and click any photo then come back to attachments list, it flickers.

I can understand that it is loading those into memory but when go inside and come back it should not load again. Looks like it is re rendering on appear all the time.

This is quite annoying. I don't recall having like this before.

This is because of how the NSPageController class on AppKit works when used with NSCollectionView. During navigation, the platform refreshes the collection view multiple times, with different data for each cell. Because the data retrieval is async, there is a small flicker. It has always been like that on macOS and that page, it's nothing that has been introduced recently.
I do cache the images on the calendar page - otherwise it would show similar behavior. I don't do it on the attachments page because it would need a much much larger in-memory cache (because there are more medial files on that screen and they are higher resolution).
I have already spent a lot of time on this problem and I don't think it would be worth spending even more. Maybe at some point I will redesign the UI and classes used, or Apple changes the behavior so that the issue disappears...
