Auto focus search view box

When switching to searching view, it would be nice to get keyboard open automatically without having extra click.

Good suggestion. I just wonder if there's users who, when going to the search, don't actually want to search by a search term, but instead want to filter using the filter menu. In that case, the keyboard opening could be undesired behavior. Maybe some other users could add their opinion on this... 🙂

When keyboard is opened, we can stop access filter button and filter by tags

When they come back, keyboard is still open. This may or may not but i personally like to have less clicks when i am hurry to search something

@timo why not combine timeline and search view so that it would still be single click when i have to search within timeline view.

In order words search view can be timeline view and one tab can be removed to accomodate other things(i think I requested this as a separate feature)

Maybe less space in timeline view?

There's this existing feature request which track it. Once I find time, I might see how difficult it would be to add it. Off the top of my head, I could see people who are not using the timeline (but the calendar view) be confused about the search being gone when it is just integrated in the timeline view and not available as separate menu item. Also, e.g. on Android, the top row of the timeline view is already (showing the month + year)

For now, I decided to not auto-focus the search field. Mainly because it requires the user to swipe-down / dismiss the keyboard manually before being able to navigate to other pages (on Android it's easier, you can navigate back/away from the search page with the keyboard open).
Also, I checked other apps (from Apple: App Store, Music, TV) and they all don't auto-focus the search field when navigating to the search page.

However, on macOS, the search field will be autofocused in the next app update

Can you at-least make double click on search tab to focus like how ios appstore handles it

is it also possible to remember search tab similar to calendar and timeline view.

That would save me another click... I would always like to be in search tab. (I think i asked this question in another place). ios appstore remembers all the tabs selection

Just curious why not map and search tabs can't be remembered (atleast on ios). Any kind of problems/challenges that occur for these two tabs?

Currently not planning to change that, but you can create a new feature request for it.
Calendar and timeline page have buttons to easily add new entries, the other pages don't, that's why I treated them differently
