Apple pencil support for handwritten journal

Hi Tim,
It would be great if u could add apple pencil for writing the entries It will complete the hand written Journaling experience even though I like entering the entries with keyboard I still miss the feel of writing my own journal wish u could do something for that I know it's a lot of work but I don't find anyone else doing that as of now

LogeshSN there are plenty of apps out there that support apple pencil, one of the best is (in my opinion) goodnotes, you can write your journal entry and then export it to diarium. if not as an attached document then as a jpg. easy peasy 😃

I have read your post, but I have currently no plans to add pencil support.

I just pulled out my iPad Pro and started writing in the text box area for my Diarium app with the Apple Pencil and it worked! I wrote and it was converted to text. I guess if one wanted to be super fancy, they could make an image file of a “written” journal page and just add that picture to the day on Diarium, but this way worked just fine for me. Love the App!

AbigailNielsen I have ipad mini (ios 17.5.1) and this does not seem to work for me.’’ Would like this as to me it is nit so much about the handwritten text but hust writing io typing.

I think what @AbigailNielsen is referring to is the automatic conversion of hand-written text to "digital" text (as if it was typed with the keyboard). This is an iOS feature (and the same is also possible in the Windows app), but it's nothing I built - it's just a system feature.
I think some users would prefer if the handwritten text stays handwritten and isn't converted (as this could be more personal and closer to a "real" physical journal). It's rather unlikely that this will be added - at least in the near future - but for that reason the "Done" tag would create confusion.

Can we use it to add to our notes? I study and ironically would be great to add various comments and stuff right onto my diarium notes [like circle, highlight, add or jot down few things]. Just curious. Ty.

I quite like this feature. I was originally utilizing Good Notes 5 for this, but feel Diarium is better, even if I can’t hand write.

Maybe a good middle ground solution would be the ability to attach a “doodle” or something. It could work just like how file attaching works now. Be useful to include sketches, charts, or whatever people doodle in their journals.

Not sure how much development time this would take. Regardless, love the app! Thanks for at least hearing out your community.

I just use Nebo for note taking, drawing of filling workbooks in my tablet. It has great handwriting recognition so I can convert and export any note to Diarium. If it's a drawing I export it in jpg format or pdf. For example, I write morning pages and then I export and attach the pdf to Diarium.
If you miss pen and paper you can always use a notebook, take pics and upload to Diarium. That is what the Bullet Journal app proposes. I preferred Diarium because it allowed me to tag, add notes and other info like my calendar. Now I just do my BuJo entries (the original system not the Instagram fancy iterations) directly in Diarium, it's perfect for rapid logging.
