Problem with Importing Dropbox Backup

I've recently got a new phone and can't import my Diarium database from Dropbox, even though I have successfully done so before. When I select Import and choose the database file (v4_database) from the Dropbox folder it says "Error when importing diary (file is not a database)". It worked fine last time I got a new phone so I can't work out why it won't work this time. Any thoughts?

Diarium version: 2.7.10
OS + version: Android 7.0

You are mixing up the sync with the backup/import.
You can only import ".diary". files which you can generate with the "backup" button.
The sync files can only be imported with the sync function.

timo hello, I have the same problem.
Trying to import from Dropbox after a factory reset, it says "file is not a database".
Are you saying I should setup the sync with Dropbox again and that will retrieve all my entries? What is the import function for of so?

It's in the app settings, on the first tab under the sync options

The sync files cannot be imported using the "import" button.
The sync files can only be "imported" by re-enabling the cloud sync. That's also how the files got onto your Dropbox.
You can only use the "import" button for ".diary" files, which are being created using the "backup diary" button

Hi Timo, I seem to have an issue across my Android devices - I have a Chromium notebook and SONY L3, previously using a Xiaomi RedMi Note 8 to create the backup .diary file - but none of which will display the Diary.diary file as an importable option... It is either greyed-out (L3) or not visible at all in Chromium, with the only viewable options in my Drive being (non-database PDF files).

Is there a way around this or somewhere something I might've missed?

What do you mean with "importable option"? You can import the .diary file in the Diarium settings using the "import diary" button

That's what I attempt to do, but it isn't recognised as a valid file ..
Sorry, "available option to import" was probably a better way to put it.
I'm not using dropbox however - this is the direct "name".diary file in my phone storage.

It's totally invisible/ greyed out/ unclickable when trying to select it.

I've also installed Diaro, Journey, all valid crossovers listed in Diarium, transfered .diary to them, but then cannot export/upload to re-import to Diarium again without the premium versions of those :/

...Is the .diary able to convert cleanly to PDF to then import via another means..?

Hallo again, so I previously uploaded the .diary file to Google Drive & tried import from there with no luck - thought I'd give it a fresh 2nd shot right from export option through to import from Drive just now.
Worked fine. - it may have been I'd broken the .diary file as I'd already tried rename/convert back-and-forth into CSV/PDF etc trying my luck.

However after hitting 'import' - accessing Diary.diary file directly from phone storage is still unavailable on my devices.

Could the issue be a non-app-associated-file type? I cannot set any app defaults for Diarium / set .diary files to open with it.

I think the files are unselectable on older Android versions. I was only able to reproduce this on an Android 9 device. And you are using Android 8 which is very old. However, I found a workaround and will add it with the next update.
