Help, please - Sync lost

Hi! I've been using and loving Diarium for a few years. I have it on my PC (windows) and my Android phone and back up to OneDrive. I haven't had any problems. I even replaced my phone and got the app back up and running without any issue. Suddenly, all data is lost from my phone version. Fortunately, it's still on my PC version (Thank Goodness!) but I'm really worried. After trying to re-sync the phone a few times, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I have tried again to sync. I have 11,900 attachments. It will get to about 4,000 and time out. I can keep the screen active, but it still says there is too much to sync. What can I do? It would be devastating to lose it all.

What is the exact error message? Sounds like the internet might not be fast enough, did you try in a different (faster) wifi?
You can also backup the database on Windows (in the app settings), move it to your Android and import it there. Then enable the sync.

Speedtest: 366 Mbps download & 329 upload Mbps

There are almost 12,000 attachments, so it is a large sync. It's backed up to OneDrive. I don't understand how to backup to Windows and move it. It seems like I should be able to login to the OneDrive backup and open it on my phone and then restart the sync. When I opened the app and nothing was there, I clicked the sync icon and it had me select OneDrive. Then I had to sign in. I thought that would automatically repopulate the phone app, but it didn't.
I deleted the app and reinstalled, hoping a fresh start would fix it, but it didn't.

I confirmed that the diary is saved to OneDrive. Opened OneDrive on my phone and could see the file there. Opened Diarium and "imported diary," selected the OneDrive file and imported it. "Import completed" but nothing appears on the app. I closed the app and reopened it but it's still empty.

Diarium only shows that error message when it encounters an internet problem. It could be some issue in your wifi not being able to reach OneDrive or something.
Does it always stop at exactly the same counter in the sync message?

The sync is independent from the backup & import feature. You need to import the "Diarium.diary" file that is created when using the "Backup database" button in the app settings

I thought I had it! I opened the app and imported the diary from OneDrive. It responded like there was no issue but I didn't see any changes. Nothing populated on the app. I then selected "sync" and it made it to 11,200 entries before it timed out. So close to 11,900!!
I've tried laying my phone on the router. I've tried turning off wifi and using data.

I'm not sure what to do next.

How long is the sync taking over all? Is the screen of the phone turning off while it is syncing?
How large is the database in total? You can see that in the "Diary statistics" in the app settings on the Windows app. It should be around the same size as the "Diarium.diary" file that you create when doing a database backup.
How large are the largest files in the "v4_Media" subfolder of the "Diarium" folder on your OneDrive?

I'm unable to view subfolders on OneDrive. It appears as one file and when you click on it, it asks which app you want to use to open it.
I went to the phone, opened OneDrive and tried to open the backup file. I got an error message that there are no apps installed that can open this type of file.

I set the phone screen to not turn off. The sync process runs for a minute or 2 before it times out. I've gotten as close as 11,200/11,900 attachments and then it timed out. I was keeping my finger on the screen so it wouldn't time out and had my phone sitting on the router for the strongest signal. Speeds seem pretty good at 180 download and 290 upload.

You cannot open the file from OneDrive - it's an encrypted file used exclusively for sync. But there's a "v4_Media" folder which can be opened.
Anyways, I don't know how else to help. I strongly recommend doing a database backup in the app settings - this will create an approx 2.8 GB large "Diarium.diary" file that you can store on your OneDrive - it will take a while until it's fully uploaded. Then do a download of that file in the OneDrive app on your phone and then select it when using the "Import diary" button on your phone.
I still cannot explain how the sync times out with 170 Mbit download speed - it is quite interesting that you have 290 Mbit in upload, normally download is much faster than upload... Does it always stop at 11.200 files? Did you try to sync in a different wifi?

Internet is fiber optics and usually reliable.

Before I got your last message, I switched to cell phone data and restarted the sync. It was slow, but it worked. It ran for a couple of hours before I got an error message. I then closed the app and restarted it. It worked. I don't recommend this method. It took 3.5 gb of cell data! but it's now repopulated on my phone.

Glad it worked...
I don't know if using the cell data "fixed" the problem. I still believe that it was due some internet connection issue. Even if the internet is fast it is possible that HTTP requests fail along the way
