Difference between migrate & import

timo hi there - what is the difference between migration from another app and importing data. These are 2 different options within Setttings. I currently have Momento and created an export of all my entriees and so I thought I'd be able to import these files - but I can't seem to do so. I obviously saw that there is no direct migration from Momento, but I don't understand the difference? Is there any way on earth of being able to import files directly to Diarium?

"Migrate" means importing data from another app.
"Import" means importing a previously exported Diarium backup file (file ending ".diary")

Diarium does not support migration/import from Momento.

I have local data on my iPhone and local data on my Mac. I would like to do an export on the iPhone and then import this dataset on the Mac. When importing, does the previous data remain on the Mac and the imported data is added to it?

Or asked in another way: Can it be controlled whether the previous inventory data is deleted during the import or whether the previous inventory data is retained during the import?

When importing the database file, the existing content will disappear/deleted. Only the data in the imported database will be there.
If you want to merge data from your iPhone and Mac, you should use the Cloud Sync.
