Dark Theme Friendly Highlight Colours

I use Diarium with the dark theme. Would it be possible to change the behaviour of highlighting when in dark theme? Currently, if I highlight text in yellow (my prefered colour), the text is hard to read as it's white on yellow. I suspect that if I highlight entries in a dark colour such as dark blue or dark red, should I ever switch to light theme, I would experience a similar issue.

My suggestion would be to invert the colour of the text with the highlight, or have two colour highlight options that show depending on what theme you're using e.g yellow/dark yellow, green/dark green, blue/dark blue etc.

I accidentally had a similar "feature" enabled for the text editor in macOS, but this was then reported as bug here.
So I am unsure if such a feature would solve more problems than it causes confusion. Other users could be very particular with what color they choose and want to see that chosen color everywhere.

In cases like this I like to go to other apps and see how they have solved it. Google Docs doesn't have a dark mode at all and Word does change the selected highlight color to a different shade when in Dark Mode.

I am still a bit reserved on this (also because it's not trivial to implement) but if there's enough support for this feature request, I'll consider it

Have a look at UpNote. That's where I got the idea from.

Can you provide “more colors” option like we have in theme colour, then we can choose what colour we want.

Of course it’s not based on theme.

I would also like to be able to change different colors, I am using orange as my accent color since it is my favorite color, but it sets all of the other colors to ugly brown tones. Individual color switches would be awesome!
