EAPTCB Yes. Diarium on Windows/Android is using the web APIs of iCloud that a web version would have to use as well

Yet another vote for web app/linux diarium. Maybe let us self host the website so you don't have to pay for the server and just in case you abandon this project I could still dairy on my linux machine.

Sal I am running Ubuntu 22.04 on a Lenovo X1. I tried out your suggestion and ...it work's very well indeed! The initial installation of Waydroid was relaltively straight forward. It took a while to get the play store certification to work but after a couple of attempts, this too worked. I could then proceed to install Diarium from the play store. Diarium works just as you'd expect it to in Android. It was a bit fiddly to get the cloud sync working but eventually, this too worked. Now I can make diary entries in my X1 using the keyboard and it syncs perfectly to the cloud.
I agree with many others here that writing diary entries is way better using a keyboard when you have more than a few words to write. Now I can do this on my Ubuntu laptop. Thanks for the tip!!

Sal this method sadly i couldn't get working on linux mint cinnamon. would genuinely love a linux and or web version of diarium.
edit: i managed to find a work around by using scrcpy on linux

Also a vote for Linux (Mint). It would be fantastic, and I'm sure that a "contribution"/Crowdfund for this would go down well for all of us who would like to see it work and use it on Linux.

I've been using Diarium for months, got the pro version of this and Working Hours, and I just switched to Linux Mint on my desktop and laptop, so I too would love a Linux version or web version! I might try one of the workarounds folks here have mentioned: running it on a Windows container or on Android on Linux.

+1 for a Linux version. Would be happy to pay for that. Many paid high quality Linux applications use a licence key for activation (such as Reaper, Transcribe, Pianoteq etc). Diarium would be a welcome addition.

I would love to see this, too; my preference would be web, because while the iOS application works great, I find that the Windows app,while usable with a screen reader, really isn't that great with one; buttons are unlabeled, and so on. That would be a whole different post probably with some input from others.

I am eager to improve the Windows app - what buttons aren't labeled? I think a native app is almost always superior to a web app

username Diarium is using the same technology that ".NET Maui" is using under the hood. As you can see, .NET MAUI also "only" supports Windows, iOS, Android & macOS, but not Linux or Web.

timo Linux should be fine since they can use mono/wine. They are used to that and it's not really a big problem.

.NET apps that are web with no desktop components should be more portable as you can have native linux exports that way where you can export a static binary using musl.

I guess a binary that spawn a web server is ultimately the most portable but i think the MAUI approach might be fine as linux users have ways to run windows stuff anyway.

username at least at the moment it's not possible to run the UWP windows app of Diarium on Linux, as others found out in the posts above. Maybe that'll chance once Diarium will be ported to WinUI3. Currently you'd need to run an Android emulator and install the Android app

I just wanted to say about the whole "Linux or Web App" argument that not everyone has Linux (just like not everyone has Windows/MacOS etc) BUT we all have access to the web - so would it not be beneficial for everyone to opt/vote for the Web Version of Diarium? Or am I missing something?

Well there's pros and cons for both Linux and web versions. Two of the main disadvantages of a web version would be that it would have to run on a server that would need to be secured, maintained (and paid for) and performance would generally worse compared to "native" apps.
Also, where's the journal stored in the case of a web app? The local browser cache? What if the user clears the cache?
