RobertSpencer by the way, are you using .net? If so, you can check out Duplicati for more inspirations. It is a .net program which runs as a server and is primarily made for Windows (because of .net) and then on Linux it runs using mono. Then, the user interface is all web-based with a local server.

I would also love to see a Linux or web version. I understand that you have no plans to develop that, I just wanted to add my vote in case more demand might make you consider it in the future. 🙂

In the mean time, I wonder if anyone has tried running the windows version in Wine on Linux? Does it run in Wine? If it runs, I'd be happy to buy the windows version for my Linux computer, but I don't want to buy it if I don't know whether it will be able to run or not.

RobertSpencer I have experience with web servers, and coding for such. Any coding I do would be designed to run in a server environment, not on a desktop (although anyone with Linux or Docker experience would know how to get around that if they want it on their desktop machine).

I just stumbled over a former desktop application, which someone has transformed into a docker application, running on its own webserver. I'm using it even on docker desktop on a windows machine because it's so simple, start the container, use it, kill the container. This is a really convenient way for users as well as for developers and I hope more and more applications will be supplied as containers in the future.

I'd also love to see a web/linux version, I'm completely switching to linux and it's a shame that I won't be able to write entries comfortably from the PC.

Or if thats not possible, would it be possible to add an user preference setting option to save the unencrypted sqlite file that is (thats already available via the Backup Diary function) to they same sync location that the current one is saved to?

I second the request for a Linux version of Diarium for many of the same reasons as above. Tired of having to migrate my journals to Windows based machines. I am grateful for the Android app, and cloud syncing, but considering this is my diary, being able to "future-proof" it by being able to use it cross-platform just seems appropriate, considering what it is.

I can frequently use different PCs and it is much more comfortable and versatile not having to have any applications installed

If it will be a paid service, It would be appreciated if the paid version of Windows gives access to this feature also without any additional payment.

Unlike the other services that currently provide journaling features in linux .Diarium could stand out just by providing their service to the OS as most of the others have not perfected the interface or any other features that is provided by diarium. So hands down any form of your service to the linux community will be extremely appreciated.

+1 for Web interface. I use Windows, but I rather dislike Metro apps, this form of design just doesn't do it for me.
I know that, unlike Windows app, web version doesn't really pay; perhaps that could be mitigated by only allowing its usage to users who have purchased Diarium on any one platform?
