Couldn't communicate with a helper application

OS + version: MacOS Ventura 13.0

Sorry to disturb! I purchased and already paid for the Pro version on my Mac, but it couldn't recognize? On the "Pro Version" page, it still says "Buy" or "Restore purchases". When I clicked on "Buy" and tried to repurchase it and it says I already bough it and can use it after restoring, but nothing happened, except that the bubble "couldn't communicate with a helper application" pops up. For the "Restore purchases" button, every time I clicked on it, the application would automatically quit, and it would still be the same after I re-enter the app. I wonder what that bubble meant and how I could solve that problem. I tried restarting the application a several times and turning on and off the VPN but nothing worked, I even restarted my laptop... Thank you very much for your time!

Hi Jane,

Diarium displays this popup with the error text that the Apple purchase API returns. I don't think I can do anything to fix this, it's an error on the Apple/MacOS-level. I would recommend signing off your account on the App Store App and then sign in again, maybe that helps...

I would like to investigate more about the app quitting when clicking the "restore purchase" button. I see 4 crash reports from a "MacBook Air 13" (M1, 2020)" with macOS 13.0 - is this your device?
Does the app quit immediately after you click the "Restore purchase" button or does it take a few seconds or does any message appear on the screen before the app quits?

timo Thank you for the reply! Yes, that's my device. I tried signing on and off and it still didn't work... I will try other methods later on, but if you have other suggestions please do let me know. I'm still struggling a bit...

The app quits 5-6 seconds after clicking the button and nothing appears before it quits.

I think I identified the reason for the app quitting after clicking on the "restore purchases" button. I will fix this with the next update. Most likely, the app will then show the same message ("Couldn't communicate with a helper application") when clicking the "restore purchases" button.

I am currently out of ideas. You can try to google the error message (Couldn't communicate with a helper application) and you can also try to reinstall the Diarium app (make sure to create a backup of your database before doing that)
