More search filter options

Currently we have filter on rating, location and tags.

I would like to have search filter on images/videos/audio/files as well.

Yes something like that.

I just want to filter videos/images/… along with tags/person for quick search.

Currently we have green tick for selection. I am ok with that as well or check box is also fine

If check boxes then i don’t think we need AND-filter.

AvinashR I agree, but tracker should also be included as an option, not just tags and people.

Just wanted to pipe in here on the subject of search. Are there any modifiers we can use to narrow search queries? I wanted to search for entries that included the word 'ring' and I got a load of entries come up that included stirring, bring, ringing, etc.

redeyeshev In my opinion text which is inside quotes (example: "ring") should only return exact words. It should also work with sentences (example: "golden ring").

In addition it would be a really great feature if you could combine words with AND (example: mom AND dad, which shows all posts which have both mom and dad) and with OR (example: mom OR dad, which shows all posts which have mom or dad or both mentioned). This is how it usually works in other search systems.

Search system is one of the weakest points of this app, so it would be really great if Timo would invest some time on it. I know Timo is busy with other features, but many people have requested something similar, so I think it should go up on priority list.

Crossoni I already tried quotes and it returned zero entries unfortunatley.

I agree about the search needing some refinement. I've been using Diarium for 3.5 years now, and my focus has been adding entries, but I'm at the stage now where I have enough entries that I want to go back and reference things. Tags make this a lot easier to browse a particular subject, but search is the only way if there's something specific I want to find.

I'd also love to be able to filter the attachment view - but that's another topic!

I was thinking the same.
May be group by categories like audio/video/images/other… in attachments tab as well.
This can also have date range as filter.

I have been journaling since the old Palm days. I used Natara DayNotez on Palm. I began using it in 2000 and used it for 18 years; until I was forced to transition to Android.

When I transitioned to Android, I found Journey in 2018. Currently, I use the Journey app on android phone and windows PC.

The size of the Journey data is reported at 2.44 GB of storage. I have over 10 thousand entries.

I am somewhat satisfied with Journey to input entries, but not to retrieve them. The search function of Journey is VERY limited! (that is a BIG understatement!).

With so many entries, I need a more powerful search function to search for my entries.

Your search function is better than Journey, but still limited. Curiously, the best practice of the search function I have seen on a Journaling app is the Natara DayNotez for Palm!!!

I would also like possibility to search when some connected app is used. For example, when I run and Strava shows that in Diarium. I want to search in Diarium for all entries when Strava
was used. I hope you understand what I mean.

Yes! This app is otherwise perfect except for the search functionality.
Please let us search for more than one word or phrase within an entry, for instance, all entries that mention "mom" somewhere and "dad" somewhere else in the same entry.

That could be accomplished with AND or by putting the search terms in quotation marks.

I also find the search functions restrictive. I would like some way to include separate unrelated words in a search. It has taken me a long while to understand the And operator function and if I have it right now that only works with the Tags in teh search function. I find I use tags more and more but then scrolling through an evergrowing list of tags to find a tag which is way down the alphabet is very time consuming.
