When will the app and PC version automatically sync? How long before it happens? instant. minutes, daily?

The auto sync happens when you leave/exit or open/maximize the app. The sync can also happen in the background, the intervals are different dependent on the operating system. You can also manually trigger a sync using the sync button.

Hi Timo,
We just had a first baby girl 15 days ago, we decided to keep dairy for her, me ( the dad) and the mummy are going to do it together.

Mine is Huawei mobile phone and mummy is using iPhone. When we were both on free pro service, the dairy sync no problem, however when the free pro service was expired, I bought the pro service from my end, we both login with same email address, the app works fine on my phone but didnt work on mummy's iPhone. Can yo please help, thank you.

As Android and iOS are two different platforms, you need to buy the app twice, once for each platform, as mentioned above in the FAQ text.

By OP -- I realize now this was confusing, as the comments don't appear in sub-threads -- I meant Yuchenfamily in this case. I couldn't scroll on mobile to go look up the name while writing, like I did now on desktop.

I guess I'll have to try out the webdav sync and what you can do with it with a windows diarium app on two different machines, then, to see whether that is compatible with what I imagine.

What I'm looking for, essentially, is an etherpad for journalling, something like that.

timo aha! This is what I was looking for. Can you go a little more into the details of how writing a common journal would work when syncing over WebDAV? I have a NAS that should work fine as a WebDAV server and I could also use a nextcloud instance I own, but I have a hard time imagining what it would look and feel like to use diarium on two separate android phones (and, presumably, also two windows PCs (I know we'd have to buy the app for each of these devices, but that's fine if it works as hoped, in the end)). My main concern is with being in two separate locations and editing the same entry at the same time. As in: one is in the train home and starts to write about the day and the other one is already home and starts writing a few minutes later. Would it be possible to make a screencast of such a process? Just to see hownit behaves and, deduced from that, how best to cojournal with diarium.

OP wrote they logged into diarium with the same account, but I am not even sure I had to make an axcount at any point.

even this forum is beautifully implemented. Timo, you really set new standards as to what is possible with good design. I can only imagine the code behind all this well factored and the functions richly commented. I can't imagine that one person allone can make so many such beautiful products
When syncing over WebDAV csn the syncers use different webdav accounts or does it have to be the same, sprich, is it possible to sync using a common/shared directory
I actually forgot the last thing, spending too much time with praise. Maybe I'll think of it again later.

Just bought the Android and Windoze versions, kudos! I'm syncing to Nextcloud via WebDAV and two things are kind of annoying: 1) blocks the UI while it syncs and 2) it's slow. Maybe it's slow because my Unraid is not very powerful and it's sync'ng media files inside a DB? It would be cool if the app would do a super-fast sync on the text notes and then a background sync on the media files/attachments so it wouldn't block the UI

Hi there,
Could you please advise where on icloud drive the database is stored to allow the sync?
Can this data only be decrypted by the Diarium application? I.e. The cloud provider is unable to view it's contents.

I just bought the Pro version. Where in iCloud is the database stored? I don't see anything there that has to do with Diarium.

I have data from Windows Mobile (v3_database & v3_mediaindex) , Can it be recovered?

RomazRau Yes, it should be able to recover it. First, make a backup of all the files & folders in the "Diarium" folder on your OneDrive. Then, rename or delete the files/folders as follows:
v3_database -> v4_database
v3_mediaindex -> delete file
v3_Media-> v4_Media

Then, log in to the Cloud sync in Diarium.

I would not recommend editing the journal (or particularly the same entry!) on two different devices at the same time. The app just cannot correctly handle this case. It can merge various entries into one database, but it cannot merge different contents of the same entry into one.

Not sure who you are referring to with OP. There is no such thing like a Diarium account, only Cloud accounts (that you create unrelated to Diarium).

As noted above, you generally need to use the same account. I am no WebDAV-pro, so I am not 100% sure about it, you just need to point to the same folder using the WebDAV URL you enter when setting up the sync
