Swipe left/right to delete timeline view entry

I couldn't find any discussion on this.

So when I want to delete any entry from timeline view, I have to open the entry then click the dots and then delete which is long process.
Instead Timeline view can have swipe to delete option which is quicker.

Diarium version: 2.9.28
OS + version: ios 16

Does it happen often that you want to delete entries and why?
Would a right-click/long-press context menu work as well?

Not often but I am used to deleting that way in most of the apps such as WhatsApp, mail,messages etc.

Swiping is inbuilt feature of iOS interms of coding with few actions. Shouldn't be that difficult. Not sure about other platforms.

Coming to your second question again swiping is better if not long pressing is also fine.

Asked here but don’t know why long press was decided. May be to satisfy cross platforms.
Only @timo knows the difficulty in implementation

I think with transient items like emails and messages, swiping is a great way to manage items. But it would concern me that a diary entry could be deleted with a swipe gesture. Long-press context would be better.

I couldn't imagine going through my timeline and deleting lots of entries quickly, but I guess it depends on how you use Diarium.

I am OK with Swipe or long press with confirmation dialog.

I will think about adding a context menu with a few options (delete, add/remove tags, maybe change date, ...)

I will add a context menu to delete entries from the timeline view with the next update. The update is planned to be released end of August.

For a typical iOS app swipe left reveals several options. Useful for Diarium would be delete, change date, and edit tags.
