Dictation

I'm an android user mostly on my tablet, sometimes on my phone.
recently updated to latest version.
I want to try out the dictation feature - but there is no microphone icon on my keyboard.
This may be because I tried out several different keyboards a while ago and am unsure which I'm using (but it's one I like).
I'm an oldy - now in my mid 70's - so do get a little confused these days with settings etc (flaky very-short-term-memory).
I've downloaded the Google voice assistant which I have now got working after a fashion but it's a little confusing trying to set it up only for Diarium (I don't plan on using it on anything else).
I've googled this issue quite extensively but so far nothing sensible for my needs.
So, I finally figured out I should talk to THE expert - which is YOU.
Hope you can point me in the right direction.
I still love your app - it's perfect for my needs.

I don't know if Google Voice assistant is able to dictate into other apps, I've never used it.
Dictating using the keyboard is the recommended way for dictating into Diarium and I don't plan to integrate another option, sorry. From what I know, the leading keyboard apps (Google keyboard, Samsung keyboard) support dictating via the keyboard.
