Multiple diaries?

I achieved this via templates and tags. If I view all the entries with that tag it is essentially a different diary. This way I have one for personal stuff, thoughts, movies watched, baseball scores, etc. etc.

It would be really cool to have a "family-shareable" diary (iPhones using different Apple-IDs) .
@timo : Win-Win situation. This would also increase your sold licenses ;-)

dsteiner You can already share a journal by simply connecting the sync to the same cloud account (you could create a cloud account just for that purpose)

timo Thanks - didn't realized that. But still don't understand how does it work - afaik sync to iCloud (in our case) is bound to my Apple-ID iCloud.
Do you mean, I have to "manually" import the database an vice versa "manually" saving?

Hey Timo, this feature request has been sitting here for a few years now. Do you have any plans of adding it this year? It's really the only reason myself and I think many others still go back to day one and others. It's be nice to get an update. It's been sitting with considering status for years now

It's not working with iCloud because the iCloud sync automatically uses the active account (it would only work on Android and Windows where you can select the apple account). But it's working with the other sync options as they prompt you for an account

I found this thread because I would very much like this second diary feature. I've bought the pc and android versions, and very much like the app. I use it exclusively for work though. The ability to sort through job sites via tags, search or location is incredibly helpful. Now, of course, I would like to have one for my personal use as well. I've been using Daylio, but there's no pc option. Like most others I would be willing to purchase another license.

One idea would be to allow opening and saving of another diary (sorry if diary is the wrong word), so you can have more than one diary on a computer or phone. Syncing could only happen for the diary your in. Its up to Timo if this happens.

Being able to set up multiple diaries would be really great! Often I only accompany a certain - for example professional - project over a longer period of time. I wouldn't like to mix the entries for that with my private entries. Yes, tags are a little help. But with DayOne, this separation into different journals was really extremely helpful.

It would be nice to be able to add multiple calendars that way we can journal by topics, as an example, we can have a whole calendar journal specific for work, another one specific for personal improvements, or relationships etc. The fact that we can't make multiple entries in the same day makes it disorganized and it can lead to frustrations when you can't stand it. Would be nice if the feature were added. Thank you.

CarolinaChaves I actually just figured out that we can add a new entry on the same day in the calendar clicking with the right mouse button on the day you want to add a second entry and you can add a tag with the subject you would like making it be a different calendar specific for a topic you would like to. That solves my problem. PERFECT!!! Tagging the topic you are journaling about make it organized and you can change colors add emojis and so. That is perfect. Thank you!

That works great for creating entries, but then the Tags view has to be your "home screen" in order to always start with just the one "diary" (tag) that you want to be looking at. And it's not possible to see just that one "dairy" (tag) in Calendar view, or Map view, or Attachements view.

With separate diaries, I could use Diarium to track work projects and conversations, and not have those entries visible at in my Personal diary.

Having previously used Diaro and Momentum and Day One, I am used to having multiple folders for different 'diaries'. That way, work, holidays, family and my personal entries (among a few others) don't interfere with each other.
I for one would like this to be implemented. Thanks.

I was thinking about this the other day. The GTD software I use (Nirvana) has a form of tags called 'Areas' and there is a dropdown at the top where you select this. Then it filters all those tasks by area (e.g Home, Work, Holiday). This could be a way of having separate journals of sorts in Diarium?

It would be a workaround, but it still wouldn't solve the problem of wanting search results to be specific to one "diary,"
or having separate Calendar, Map, and Attachements views for work vs personal, or having work results show up when searching for something in your personal calendar.

Basically, if I want to have a completely separate "diary" for work, I don't want to have to use a completely separate app — because this is the diary app I want to use.

I would greatly appreciate having this feature.

Use case from me:

I would create multiple diaries such as Daily, Relationship, Family, Work, Travels, Places I want to go. And another diary as a catch all. I have a money tracker app and I was able to filter quickly all the transactions relating to the "book" and view the overall status of the "book".

With multiple diaries and advanced filter feature, I would also hope to be able to see entries only relating to these diaries. Eg. When I am selecting Family diary, I would only want to see Family related entries in all the tabs (i.e atlas map, calendar, timeline, etc). This is so that I can have better view of where I visited with my family, or where I visited with my partner etc instead of seeing everything in the map.

The search filter only filters at list view. But as a visual person, having the ability to filter only the related entries at atlas map would be tremendously helpful.

In summary, while the app have the ability to filter by tags, it would be helpful to group the entries by diaries ("categories"). I can reduce the need of tags eg from 2 to 1 (#DailyReflection, #WorkReflection into #Reflection).

Adding my vote to the ability to have multiple Journals. It is literally the only thing I miss from Day One.
