To be clear I'm only using the Windows app so maybe that's why I don't see a button that specifically says "jump to date". The only button that's close to that is "today" which changes the calendar view to the current month (it doesn't seem to do anything specifically regarding today, so it probably should be renamed to be clearer?). After pressing this button, you can follow up by clicking the circled day (referring to today) to start a new entry. This would be fine, but as you know the circles don't work as intended unless you open and close the app every day, which I don't generally do. So normally mine looks something like this:
This adds additional work every time I go to write an entry — is the latest circled day today (did I already do an entry today?), or is the latest non-circled encircled day today? Then I have to check the date, go back to the app and click the appropriate day. This is not hard, but it is extra work that could literally all be avoided with a single button, hence my original request for a button that opens the entry for today. In fact, even if the circles bug was fixed, I feel that a single button that directly opened today's entry no matter where you were in the calendar view would be warranted for a diary app as it is a key action that is taken essentially every time you use the app, which can not only be every day but multiple times a day. It would be trivial to add and you could even have an option to hide it if you feel too many people would be unhappy to see such a button (or you could just make it so double-clicking the today button opened today's entry, so you don't need to add any buttons at all). I suspect either way most people would greatly enjoy having this ability — perhaps a forum poll could see if that's the case?
